It'd be wasted on him.

Why? Choosing a captain should factor in how giving the player that responsibility will get the best out of not only the team but the captain himself. This happened with Sharp for example.

Bash is already playing out of his skin week in week out. Yesterday for example when he took the ball from defence to the right wing, back inside and eventually he turns up receiving the ball again on the left wing... just adore the man and can happily say in almost 30 years of watching the Blades he's my favourite ever player to pull on the red and white.

I think most people over think the whole captaincy thing. Some clubs it's very important, others not so much. Mostly because it is just a symbolic gesture (e.g. Billy Sharp, he's a Blade knows the club and is a Sheffielder) so it gives people a sense of pride.

But other than that, captaincy only means who's going to talk to the ref for the coin toss etc.

I don't think it really matters who is captain at United, as Wilder has said in the past the squad is full of leaders or people who have captained their previous clubs. Teams nowadays don't tend to look at the captain the same way they did say 20 years ago, when players were playing more consistently and sticking with their clubs for more than financial reasons. Sharp is our CLUB captain... not necessarily match captain if he's not playing. Oli Norwood is vice-captain. Neither started at L**ds, so McGoldrick takes the reigns. Now you would think Basham would have been captain as he has been our captain pre-Wilder era and pretty sure he was our vice-captain before Norwood came in? So you see it doesnt really matter as the band gets passed around like a game of pass the parcel. They are all professional and know what their jobs are.
