Money well spent for now and the future .

So if/when we fail to go up this season, do you think JB will hang around wasting another precious year of his career in Division Three? Three words. Get. Out. Clause.

We've got to give the kids time to become men.

...while everybody else signs fully-developed athletes and leave us further behind.

FFS, Grumpy. We're a football club not a kindergarten/YTS Scheme.

Whats done is done and we cannot change it . We will all have to wait until the end of the season to see if player recruitment , tactics etc have been a success or failure.

Whether some of us have blind faith , could be , but if we don't go up , one thing is for sure , the level of support the blades are getting this season , will not be there.

It's not just here, it's the wider fan-base.

Heard a guy on John Street on Tuesday, who I've heard previously suggesting Clough ought to be sacked for his "treatment" of McNulty, how it's "criminal" he wasn't starting him every week, saying to his mate...

"I don't know why the useless bastard has started McNulty, it's clear as day he hasn't got goals in him".

Couldn't keep a straight face :)

And I thought it was just the nobs near me

Three year plan was what we were told when Nigel came so next year was always the one.

No not what I want but we need to remember what we were told and the kids are a year older next season.

Hopefully we can squeeze up in the play offs and let them mature in the 2nd division?

Maybe you shouldn't let him take his hip flask??

A truly ludicrous signing for me.
Compare the fee and wages to the give away of our captain for the next 15 years - Harry Maguire.
Truly insane.
A 100 percenter who is only a 6 as a defender and 6 as an attacker.
Told Phipps and Baki I was devastated at the stupidity.
Suffice to say - I did NOT get a retweet in their 'arse licking toady of the day' competition.
(That competition they run run whenever they are not in hiding)
Yes, I'll concede most of this. Maguire was a real pity but at the end, the kid wanted to go - period. If it had been up to his old man, he'd have gone a couple of years before that.

and it's not like the first time this season either, Port Vale, Coventry, MKD, spring to mind, no attempt to go and look for a win in any of those games and I am sure I have missed others out.

Those games also put to bed the argument we had (me included) "that we struggle to beat teams with our counter attacking style because they simply put 10 behind the ball" because none of those you mentioned did that . Not sure what excuse I can use next, maybe I'll wait for nige to help me with one.

Been watching Newcastle v Stoke, what struck me was that all the players looked like men and we look like kids.

We've got to give the kids time to become men.

But worryingly, ours aren't kids, just small men. Time won't solve anything.

Well on the one hand we all know what Brayford can do and he's a hige improvement to the first team, both as a defender and going forward. I don't pretend to know how much money we have or had to spend, or whether Brayford came at the expense of a proper forward though. If he cost a packet and it meant we failed to sign a Centre Forward then yes I would say it was a little barmy.

I also posted on here that I believe to an extent that this whole 'lift' thing that a signing like Brayford gives everybody is a bit of a myth. We crashed out of the cup the day he was introduced to the crowd and we've since lost badly in both the league and the FA Cup, so any lift he gave us a) has been immediately squandered (just look at this board the past couple of days) and b) clearly wasn't all that effective in the first place. See also: James Beattie, a man who was meant to fire us out of this godforsaken league not only with his goals but with the intangible, unquantifiable 'lift' the fans and his team mates were meant to gain from his very presence. It didn't work out - Beattie was dreadful as the team collapsed like a cake in a bath and to make it worse he made himself unavailable when we could have used even a striker of his dubious merits.

While I'm pleased Brayford has signed I think the window in its entirety was a bit of shambles with missed targets and confused priorities. Apparently we're assembling a squad composed solely of midgets and fullbacks.

It's a shambles, if we got a 40goal a season striker we'd be playoff certainties!

What are the scouts doing??
There must be lots of decent strikers available for loan from the prem eg Bamford,Afobe,Aneke etc etc who will score goals at this level and certainly much better players than Higdon,McNulty and Adams.
Chelsea have 28 players out on loan at present apparently, and I would have thought a few of those would improve our team.
