Baldock

He’s got to keep his place when Freeman gets back but I’d seriously try KF on the left if Stevens doesn’t pick his form back up. He was good at left back, I think he’ll be decent at wingback

Lafferty was pretty good yesterday mind.

I didn’t see yesterday’s game, but I think Baldock’s attacking output has been really disappointing lately. He gets up and down and is a fantastic athlete, his defensive contribution is also excellent. However, he’s been getting into great positions and consistently not beating the first man with his cross. This results in a corner, which again - we are poor at.

When Freeman’s ready I think he’ll go back in. He makes things happen.

I think freeman is the better attacking player imo.

Baldock seems to do the hard work then never find the killer ball

Tend to agree with the comments above, I prefer Freeman but Baldock is turning into a very good competitor for the RWB position. He just needs to keep working hard and continuing to improve. Another great value for money signing from Wilder/Knill/Mitchell.

It'll be interesting to see what we do with the RWB position next season. Same with LWB.

They're absolutely key roles and can make the difference. We're close to being a top team at this level. We're strong throughout the spine, although we have an ageing forward line.

Will Baldock/Freeman and Stevens be enough to get us promoted playing this system?

I'd be looking at players who can offer more attacking productivity. It'll be hard to improve on them though.

Not sure if Baldock crossing was that great yesterday. He played well though.

However our only tactical threat yesterday was
1: Duffy getting on the ball and trying his clever defence splitting passes or
2: Baldock sprinting down that right wing getting in crosses.

Those 2 seem to be our 2 big threats and really important to the team.

I said the other week that Duffy plays like a poor mans Davide Silva.
Well Baldock plays like a poor mans Kyle Walker, both aren’t the best defensively
But both almost play as attacking wingers, both are quick and always keen to get forward.

At the moment I’d be inclined to say that Baldock could improve to be one of the best RWBs in the league, Stevens I’m not so sure. He certainly needs better competition than Lafferty to push him on a level though. I have to keep reminding myself that this is most of these lads’ first seasons at this level, you’d like to think they can only get better with experience. They’re doing brilliantly, that considered.

Definitely MOTM (even if the kids who voted gave it to Sharp...)

Excellent value signing and should (will) keep his place when Freeman's back.

Didn't understand that at all. Sharp did very little aside from put the penalty away. Not that he did much wrong but a long way from a MOTM performance. Only reason he stayed on the pitch was because presumably Donaldson is ahead of him in the running for Tuesday.

Baldock was my pick and I don't think it was close. Lafferty had an okay game (I still think if we played 442 rather than a wingback system he'd be first choice) but offered little going forward. If we hadn't had Baldock as an outlet out wide then Preston would've absolutely dominated, first half especially.

Great game today

Brilliant buy Mr CW

Can’t wait for the rest of the season and seeing how CW blends this fantastic squad .

What a time to be a blade
Yeah, agreed thought he was class second half and had much more freedom when Bash came on

He looked really quick yesterday

Sort by goals MOTM voting annoys me much more than it ought to

I blame those who actually select the voting options. Sharp wasn't one of our top 4 performers yesterday. Yet as soon as they select a goalscorer you know he's going to win the vote, especially in a 1-0 victory.

It still makes me despair a bit at those casting the votes. Not great football brains, I fear.

Baldock was my man of the match, he was a real threat all game, and even his gamesmanship fouls were good!, Stearman was a close second, possibly his best game in a Blades shirt, very assured performance. Freeman is more of a goal threat, and could/should take Stevens place. Billy was not man of the match, but I think the goal will have done him the world of good.
