Baldock was phenomenal

They all were tbh. In particular Dowell, Baldock and Madine. Sharp showed the enduring quality of a natural goalscorer too. Fleck and Norwood ran the middle against formidable opposition. There are many reasons for optimism, but it seems our fans want to destroy us from the inside rather than looking at the many positives.

I would say losing a 3 goal lead with 10 to go warrants a bit of a tantrum in fairness. Be weird if we were all serene and agnostic about the whole thing
 
Dowell.... not quite "another Woodburn", eh? He had heavy involvement in two goals, looked tidy and sharp all night and should only have come off for Duffy.

Madine was excellent, always retained the ball, set up two goals and should never have been taken off. I assume the only reason he was was Wilder feeling the need to apologise to McGoldrick for not starting him.

Baldock needed a mention too though, it was his best performance this season, he was flawless.

Baldock and Dowell really help with our transition game. Madine looks technically proficient and allows us to start playing football higher up the pitch. We also have strength in depth, so we can keep up the intensity at the top end of the pitch. We should be a fucking nightmare to play away from home now. There are many reasons for optimism. We can go to the likes of West Brom and Leeds and fancy ourselves. That's what we proved tonight imo. What happened in the last ten minutes wouldn't happen if we replayed the game ten thousand times.
 
The boys were friggin’ awesome for 80 minutes tonight against a top class side on their own patch.
They’ll also learn more from those last ten minutes than weeks on the training field and it will stand them in good stead for the last 16 games.
We’re going up boys.
I can feel it in my boner.

Generally agree except twice in the last 5 minutes he lost possession by villas corner flag and allowed them to break and put us under pressure. Overall great performance from him but fuckups in the last 15 just like most of the rest of them.

I like Guddy but I wish he’d practice his crossing into the box.

He should have been passed to at 3-0 when McGoldrick chose to shot, and it would have capped a very good performance. McGoldrick should also have a very recent memory of the benefit of passing to someone unmarked for a tap-in rather than just shoot on the angle...

I was pissed off that Goldy didn’t start last night and I bet he was and that’s what led to him shooting but he should be professional and shrug it off, that was petulance from Goldy and shouldn’t happen again.

Madine, as much as it pains me to say it had a great game and Goldy needs to respect Wilders decision, it might sound daft but him not passing was one of the things that cost us 3 points.

Agreed. Definitely looks promising from Dowell. Having being used to Duffy I would still like him to get hold of the ball a bit more as it’s obvious he’s a decent player.
Was also probably the best I’ve seen Baldock especially going forward.

And yes, I am aware of all the other mistakes. I just wish Green’s desire to win that ball was matched by Baldock. Even if Baldock jumps and doesn’t win the header I don’t think Green scores.

Only just watched it back, and you're probably right there.

It's not the first time I've seen him not jumping in these scenarios either.

I was going to make this point too. Jack has got slated for an awful mistake, but any sort of challenge here makes scoring that goal much more difficult.
