We haven't filled the stadium for years for proper competitive games. Later stage FA Cup ties, play-offs, Steel City derbies, Premier League fixtures et al. But you'd suggest we'd do so for a pointless pre-season kick about against a team of reserves wearing a famous shirt. Not even at £10 a head in my view.

Really? I think if we had a friendly against either of them the lane would sell out, easily. Fans from all around yorkshire would come, when did they last / will they next get to see the talents of Barca / RM strutting their stuff in Yorkshire? Granted it would be dependent on a number of their first teamers turning up but then again I paid a tenner to watch us play Atromitos FC so will be there regardless.....

I'd be going for a Select XI rather than a big 'name' who will doubtless end up playing their reserves. It should be a celebration for the club so why not get a team containing Jags, Cahill, Walker etc Probably be a nightmare to arrange but at least it would mean something.

Also - in the premiership our lowest attendance was >27k the following season it was above 25k. Since then fans can be forgiven for not turning up.
