On squad ability, and consistency, I can only see Leeds, Middlesbrough and Burnley competing with United for the top 2 places.

I am not so sure

For ability its Boro & Leeds far ahead

Then a group of teams who have talent but scrape games with quality US /Burnley/WBA/Sunderland a few others

I can see it very likely been us and boro battling it out for the second spot

Davies hardly played. Brewster hardly played.
Moore has been out for the past couple of games and is likely to miss a fair few more, Arblaster out for a least a few months, Campbell hasn’t been fully fit for most of the season either.

I think you over-egged it with “very lucky with injuries”.
Davies and Brewster both injured before the season started. Moore injury was the first significant injury we've had and that was 14 games in.

Lucky that Souttar , Anel & Souza haven't been injured , maybe

Hamer has had a tight calf for a while, yet usually plays through it.
Wilder said in his Friday press conference that we were already looking at reinforcements for January, whether we have funds to pursue them————- - who knows
Getting high quality loans for half a season is hard enough. Doing it on a tight budget, even more difficult.Cant see beyond those teams closest to us.

Suderland, Burnley and Leeds. Possibly Boro?

If Robbo comes in at CB we are down to one remaining sub CB in RND who isn't really a CB.
The slight plus to this is that Gilchrist has played CB and Seriki/Shackleton have both shown they’re ok at RB. We do have some options at the back. It’s forward positions I’m seeing the issue.

Is that very lucky that your best players haven’t been injured? Which other best players from our promotion rivals have been out to denote how very lucky we’ve been?

still think were 2/3 good championship players away from a top 2 finish but top 6 definetly that final 3rd campbell apart were way short i would like to see a striker midfielder and left winger come in this january

THERES 5 TEAMS CHASING TOP 2 SPOTS had we not been docked 2 points wed be clear at the top now , and lookin a better place
Leeds are over hyped , they still drop points boro as usual blow hot and cold win 5 convincingly then lose a few. Burnley are strong contenders but not as strong as 2 years ago , Sunderland are drawing a lot now , and arent as good away, we are proving hard to beat,, a good place to be

Some fairly weird stuff on here last night with folk having a go despite not really disagreeing with each other. Anyway....

I reckon there's a bit of 2017/18 about this season. Let's be right there's no bloody chance we expected to be up there for automatic promotion this season and he's done unbelievably for us to be up there. It's a transitional season.

In 2017/18, we'd come up and were right up there at this time of year, probably over achieving but doing superbly. We had the spine of Fleck, Sharp, JOC, Bash, Enda and Baldock but it was a thin squad that needed investment in January to keep the momentum....we got Ryan Leonard, Ricky Holmes and Lee Evans and finished 10th.

Season after, he brought in Norwood, Egan, McGoldrick and Henderson and it clicked. Obviously 17/18 Coutts getting injured changed everything too.

We're up there but it's more unexpected and less prepared for than a typical promotion season so we need luck with injuries and a good January. I think that's all anyone's saying isn't it?

Pressure on either The Prince or Takeover will now start to build as we get closer to the January transfer window - particularly if we continue to suffer injuries/suspensions that highlight the lack of depth in the squad. Whilst I don’t expect any actual signings …. I really hope that there is a way for The Prince to find some funds for a couple of decent loans - without us having to sell first.

I think we can all agree the January transfer window will decide between automatic and play-offs.

This transitional season is the one - without financial backing the next one will be tranisitional for different reasons - there will be a big sell during the Summer Hamer Souza etc and inferior players brought in the decline will commence
However with a take over …..

Who said hamer and Campbell are Injured ?

That's the spirit

Wilder said Campbell was brought off with a hamstring injury.

He didn't

That’s the truth you plank

You’re the plank!

He didn't
He said the plan was to play him for an hour but he said he felt his hamstring was a it tight so they took him off

Your truth

So who’s marking Marc North? I thought Jock was in the zone?

Boro's last 3 games , won 4-1 , 5-1 , 6-2.

CW should show our lot how they have put in those 15 goals.

Fast attacks
Crosses from byline , smashed in
Take shots the instant you see the goal

No slow-motion build-up
..a bit like the two goals we scored yesterday before Anel went ?

Absolutely !
They did what they so rarely do and what I've been encouraging for ages.

First goal
JRS on the RW on his stronger foot.
A quick pass by Hamer (himself also on the R)
INSIDE the FB , favouring JRS coz the FB has to turn
Quick peach of a cross from the byline almost undefendable
Anticipation & sprint by Campbell
Conclusion
Let JRS alternate to RW occasionally

Second goal
Hamer again R of centre
Peach of a pass
Superb finish by JRS
Conclusion
Don't waste Hamer on LW put him central

Thing is with Boro in regards to those games, they were rather wasteful with their chances and it did cost them in games prior to those.

If you go back to their game against us they should have won that game by more than the 1-0 scoreline given the chances they had.

So what you're saying is that Boro create a huge number of chances but don't convert them all ?

Good for them - we need to try and emulate them coz we are not high scorers , nor do we create many chances.

We haven't scored more than 2 in a game all season and if our defence is getting more porous , we need to create & score more.

I posted coz in the 15 goals I watched them score , the chance was the result of them doing stuff which I've been begging us to do all season.

Like the way our 2 goals at Coventry were created.
