Sorry for creating another thread but I would just like to say that the attendance was so poor today. So many fans on this forum have been moaning about the fact that we barely have any 3pm Saturday games but the one time we do nobody fucking turns up.

We are literally about to get promoted, 10 games left. Where is everyone?

We only had 27,000 fans today, and we play Bristol City on a Tuesday night next week so I dread to think what the attendance will be for that. 25,000?

One of the worst away followings of the season distorts the attendance though

The club with its ticket policies are ruling people out including families .
Mcabe built our fanbase up on cheaper tickets and by going into the schools and unis for future support.
We have a large Chinese community we could try attract.
Ticket prices are way too high ad every away fan is saying so they boycott the lane.
Preston today in my 50 years of seeing them at the lane Brought no more than 700 .

I think their small following was the main reason don't you think? At £41 a ticket, and watching that rubbish each week, I can't say I blame their fans.

Every club that visits the lane is complaining at the ticket prices .
We have gone from a reasonable affordable club to greed .
Home and away should pay no more than £30

Can you imagine the embarrassment of qualifying for Europe and having to travel to Barcelona or Munich or Madrid every few weeks.
Football is expensive, if people want to do it they will budget for it.

But that isn't the only problem, football is attracting a new, wealthier middle class to the games. This is happening at clubs all over the country.
Sheffield is starting to see what providing shit on the field for most of the last 100 years has done to it's potential support, the people who have no problem paying for the tickets have never been interested in United because United haven't provided them with enough to get interested.

Cost of living crisis, a lot of people are skint.

absolutely spot on is it any wonder were not filling the stadium the club are so naive fans with kids are being priced out of the stadium they just cant afford it at least theyve seen the light a little with the coventry offer but its still not enough kids under 12 should be £10 max every game their the future of the club

Sorry but that 27k was mainly home fans the away following was dire considering they’re only over the peaks

Agree with this though, the pigs are cheaper for kids and that’s unforgivable for a city with 2 clubs, we should be driving promo for young fans

Not going to lie I was sat in the upper tier above the away end so I couldn’t see how many fans were there. They sounded loud so I presumed they brought the usual 2000-2500 fans like everyone else

I'm gonna guess about the same on Tuesday. Who cares?

This is a thing with most footy fans. What's the obsession with attendances?
I know our neighbours come in for flak in this department, but we have enough of our own that are driven by these numbers.

The club made a mistake making this category A and that’s why the Preston numbers were lower then normal.
Some of their fans boycotted this fixture.

Tickets were £36 + £1 booking fee = £37 on the Kop and £41 + £1 = £42.00 in the other stands.

Who’s going to pay £42 to watch us play Preston?

We have a good club, great infrastructure, good manager and a team that isn't that great but because they're well managed have won more than most clubs in England

Yet our fans are the worst for a side chasing promotion in any league anywhere, atmosphere like a morgue, fans that fuckoff 10 mins before half time or leave 5 mins early and yet Leeds fans are bellowing songs all game and create an atmosphere, as per Burnley.

Truly bizarre state of affairs that more turned up to see us get walloped last year than today.

From where I sat in the middle of the kop the BLUT, South Stand and John Street all looked pretty full. Preston must have brought less than 1000.

It’s not that bizarre.

Which game would you pay extra to watch?
Blades versus Liverpool/ Arsenal/ Man Utd or Blades versus Preston?

Surely most Blades would pay more when we play Liverpool so how come our fans were charged more for the Preston match?
£42 is too much for Championship football against an unattractive mid table team.

Also don’t think anyone is taking into account that we play Bristol City a few days later.
Think if fans were choosing 1 match to attend the Bristol City match is more attractive as it’s cat B, £31 quid on the Kop and £37 in the other stands.

It’s the same as it’s been for most of the season with between 26,000-27,000 home fans in. If the away section sells out we hit 29,000.
Generally our home following is pretty consistent, and we haven’t averaged under 26,000 since promotion from league one.
That’s quite impressive.

I asked a Preston fan account on X why their attendance today was so low, as I was really surprised. He reckoned it was inline with their home following numbers, and also impacted by the price.
I think it's also impacted by there style of play...fucking boring shite!
