I was at that game, our new player Alan Roberts looked pure class on the wing, tormented Newcastle all night.

He looked a wizard of the dribble, a far more talented than our other new player Ian Bryson (who was also good),
then Roberts quickly left not long after and hardly played football ever again.

His career was finished by injury shortly after that at a very young age.

I liked alan roberts, jinking winger. Not sure why he wouldnt like bassett's style of play given it was about getting the ball out wide then delivering a cross. I was a winger and would have loved it.
