So, with very little to go on other than a good away following at Oldham and steady season ticket sales (not sure on the final number), what do you think the attendance will be on Saturday and how will this compare with the rest of the season?

I'd go for high 18s on Saturday and an average of between 16-17k. Although the lack of offers for non-season ticket holders may have an adverse affect, there are a few local matches such as the Scum, Chesterfield and Huddersfield to keep our interest. The chance of seeing us win a few should hold some appeal too....

18,500 sounds about right for Saturday. I think the average will be around the 17k mark unless we really start to thump teams and a feel good factor returns, when it could go as high as 20k.

Conversely, it could sink to around the 15k mark if we have a sustained poor spell.

Despite the fact we're only 2 games into the season and there's still things going on behind the scenes that people aren't happy with, the feel good factor does seem to be coming back and I reckon we could hit 20K. It's a bit early to call it make or break time but we really do need to put in a good performance tomorrow and build on a decent first week.

Lets hope it is more than the pigs got again blackpool last night that looked empty.

Wednesday got 21,174 for their game v Rochdale. I think we will be hard pushed to beat that.

True, but it was the first game of the season. I doubt they'll be averaging that throughout the season.

I think that we'll get more than 20k for the opener tomorrow. A decent away win and the first day of the season should see us hit 20'000 imo. Perhaps I have my red and white specs on, but I'd like us to get more than Wednesday got last week (21'174). If the following of 3.5k at Oldham is anything to go on then I think we might be pleasently surprised by the attendence.

But this is also our first home game of the season and I don't think Rochdale are a bigger draw than Brentford.

I've no idea what kind of away following either team has but I'd expect more Rochdale fans to have been there last week than we'll get Brentford fans tomorrow.

Edit: just checked, last season, Rochdale averaged 465, Brentford 507.

Surprised you and a few others think it'll be over 20k. Maybe the feel good factor Jiom talks about hasn't rubbed off on me, I'll say 17,300.

Despite my displeasure at Wilson, I think following last season and a long shite summer, people are just ready to get back to football again. I must say that it’s been the worst summer for a long while in terms of nowt going on (footballing wise).

2 wins compared to a draw and a defeat at the same stage last season will also get a little bit of the feel good factor back amongst fans.

I’ll go for 21,500 tomorrow with an average of about 16,500 as the season goes on.

I think after tomorrow, we’ll struggle to hit 20k + until the piggies game

In other words the difference will be marginal. Maybe Wednesday got above average numbers of Rochdale fans (say 600) there as it is a fairly short trip and we will get less Brentford fans than average (say 300) as it is a fairly long trip. Not much either way.

I can see Brentford bringing at least 1k tomorrow. Their first away game, straight up the M1 is not that bad a trip and we actually might be quite a decent draw for their fans who won't have visited the Lane for a long while.

Swayed by lower st sales, stay away anti Wilson fans, holiday period and general apathy towards our football club I'm going with a whopping..........................

................................15,800

As we have two home games on the bounce, if we win that figure will improve for the next one

That could be our saving grace on a number of occasions this year. Fans that have never been here before.

17k tops for me tomorrow

10k before the deadline and i've heard 14k total just before Wilson was appointed.

With 4k refunded when he was? haha

I read 11k somewhere. I hope you're right. I suspect that may be a club record if we sold another 40% STs after the deadline has passed.

I see us averaging between 2k and 4k less than wednesday if we are roughly similar league positions.

Even if we are doing well are people seriously expecting 8,000 Blades to pay the matchday prices every week? Would cost a fortune for many. The majority will still have to pick and chose unless the club gets its act together and re-introduces offers.

I suspect by the end of the season a few more fans will realise the importance of keeping hold of your ST holders with imaginative offers.

Brentford are expecting to bring between 1200-1500 according to one of their fan's forums.

Swiss - where do you get this £4k extra season ticket sales from after the deadline? Have you asked someone at the ticket office?

As Tuns said - you seem to be expecting circa 6k to pay on the day. 14k plus 6k plus 1,500 Brentford.

I think you will be miles out at 21,500, apologies if not!

Wendy to average 4 or 5k more than us this term.

Depends how we're doing, if we're up there challenging, I suspect there'll be a few returning and we could end up pulling in 25K come the end of the season.

Slightly tangential subject but back in the good old days the highest and lowest crowds were much further apart than they are now. In our first season in D3 our lowest crowd was 8500 ish v Wimbledon and our highest 45,000 v Wednesday - over 5 times greater than our lowest crowd.

This season its unlikely our highest crwod will be double our lowest.

I've just been down at the ticket office and there was a sizeable queue there. One of my mates has got a ticket with some vouchers that were in the Sun and it looks like others there had done the same too, so that might help to bump the crowd up.

I would expect around 18,000 at the lane tomorrow, possibly 18,500 if Brentford bring a decent following.
