Does any saddo, sorry i mean clued up Blade know what our average attendance is since they started counting crowds? I think i recall someone called Darren was usually good at attendance figures.
I'm sure it was somewhere in the region of 16500 and the filthy lot at s6 was maybe 2000 more.
Thanks in advance to any soddo, sorry clued up blade in advance. ;):D

Lenners will tell you that attendances are way down now:D

Well I remember when I was a young un' - about my 5th or 6th season (Kendall days) - we used to hit 18,000 tops, usually was around the 16,000-17,000 mark.

Based on our recent jump to 24,000-25,000 average and that the intervening years have fallen between those figures - to take a wild guess.......21,000 average since this started.

They've been counting attendances since way back - but comparisons between today and the past when large parts of the ground were standing and we only had three sides would be fairly meaningless.

Highest attendance was 68,287 v Leeds in 1936 for what it's worth.

True for the standing part, but as far as the three sides go - during that period united rarely filled the ground anyway so I say that is fairly accountable.

In the owd days when yer were standing on the kop packed in like sardines and the attendence figure was announced we used to yhink a zero had been missed off !

Them owd buggers on the turnstiles allegedley were all driving Rollers

Went on a tour of the museum and ground on saturday morning and John Garrett pretty much said the same thing about the blokes on the turnstiles. He also said they reckon the crowd against Leeds was actually in excess of 100k but many had climbed the walls.

The museum is something everybbody should do there is some pretty amazing stuff inn there.
