At the game we always try to predict the attendance which is tougher this season because a fair amount of season tickets are missing matches.
So you can only judge by looking at the Bramall Lane upper tier.

Looking around the ground I predicted 29,100 and it came up on the big screen that the official attendance was 29,116.

Its something that if we get the opportunity to go up any time soon needs to be in place. The problem is the re-sale to touts especially in the Premier League. The system has to be well internally audited and policed otherwise you get the problem where someone initially buys with no intention of attending but reselling to opposition fans of said glory hunter team in the home end.

However noticed a few times that the BBC were deducting small amounts (2 or 300), every now and then they'd add a few (about 50).
Remember a Birmingham home game where the attendance was something like 19,604 but on the BBC site it showed a very low 9,604.

Then you have some clubs that don't give their official attendance until the day after.
It means nothing really because season tickets are automatically added into attendance, artificially keeping them high.

Regardless of the accuracy, we've topped 30k on the football stats sites which is good enough for me.
