Yeah just like they claim we only had a few in their north stand for the Bobby Davidson game
Wasnt at the Blades v Wendy match in Easter 1980 as I was playing in a football tournament at Kortrijk, Belgium

L**ds fans were everywhere in the ground when we lost 2-0 at home in Easter Tuesday 1974. After the match L**ds had two games left to play and clinched the title in their last match

Now that's true. Didn't it also happen against the Dirties in 1972, I know it happened on more than one ocassion, Dirties going for the title and playing against us towards the end of the campaign.

There was no segregation in those days, lots of games were full of fans brawling on the kop, almost like the theatre of the occasion, I'm sure Sociologists would explain it to us, Gary Armstrong ?

Hence the song....You took the Kop at 5oclock ..

If I remember it was " you took the kop at 5oclock again "

They used to be in the city centre all afternoon causing havoc and the Police seemed to think it was better to get them in the ground. A different type of policing in those days, more reactive than otherwise

Looking at the records it looks like 1974 and 1975, both April home matches

Were you thinking of April 1965 when L**ds were battling with Man U for the top place?

The other occasions we played at home to L**ds in the league in the 1970s were August 1971, 1972 and 1975. The 1-1 draw in April 1975 (Cammack late equalizer after a firework display was set off too early) was when we were above L**ds in the League

I was also on the kop that day, wendy fans were on the kop to the side, and Blades fans below them and at both sides trying to get at them. As you put, several times they were rushed and the coppers kept the blades fans back. To say the pigs had a quarter is utter nonsense. They quickly disappeared after the game.To say they had a quarter is utter nonsense.
Think peoples brains go with age your spot on they were behind the lockable fence which was just before it went open aired ,and not in great numbers I'd say a few hundred they were under siege all the game .same happend in the second leg of the league cup game ,

There were a few of us who went straight from school on the bus for this one, when we got to the Lane (Looking like Bay City Rollers) the dirties were already there queuing to get onto the kop to "Take it" as was the term back in the day.
We were wearing our silk Blades scarves around our wrists, and it appeared (to us) that we were the only Blades there at the time.
We quickly found and stood next to the biggest copper we could find. He suggested that we go onto the John Street stand as soon as the turnstiles open. We took him up on the advice, and watched the situation evolve, and by god did it ever, it continued outside the ground after, to a degree too after the final whistle.

Pretty much exactly my experience (other than is was Easter so we hadn't been at school but producing a makeshift banner for the occasion). Got off the 51, arriving before 6pm, to be confronted by the scruffiest set of wankers imaginable queuing for the Kop, and pretty much everywhere else. Plenty of being chased and taking a few blows before heading into town until a more suitable point when the crowd had thickened. Ended up on Lane end very much toward the pavilion (certainly past the touchline) and I would estimate there were 60% Leeds in the ground.

Can remember this, almost sure it was Easter 1974

Not 1965, but I can remember that particular race for the title, Leeds were an emerging force. They lost the Cup Final that year I believe to Liverpool.
I went to so many United v Leeds games home and away including FA cups and League cups in the 1960s and 1970's that they all must merge into each other. Most of my family and friends were Leeds fans and I usually went with them to those matches. In those days I hated Leeds, as did every other football fan.

I've obviously got the dates mixed up. Cheers Silent

I think in 1974 we played them home and away over Easter ie two days back to back

Yes 0-0 at Elland Road on Easter Monday and then the return fixture was in the next Day. Peter Lorimer scored both goals for them

Remember the Birmingham night match, they needed to draw to stay up, they equalised and it finished 1 all.BL end was packed solid and after they scored were very loud, don't remember them on the Kop that night but it kicked off massively after the game, mate at school was fighting after the game and came to school the next day with a Brum scarf he had removed.
The Newcastle game was a FA cup tie finished 0 0, we arrived on the bus from Dronfield, all you could see was Newcastle fans outside the ground, we could not get off the bus they were hitting people as they tried to get off, the streets were covered in thousands of beer cans and bottles, very scary. They had about 50 on the back of the cop to the right looking towards the pitch. Blades surrounding them all game but they had police all around them.
Remember West Ham came on the Kop every year, on one occasion they got trapped above the kids pen in bottom corner, took a real pasting as they could not get over the wall onto the pitch, police were having to drag them out over the wall, a few of them were laid out by the side of the pitch, badly beaten up, fully deserved
