Are we leaving it a bit late for signings?

With the large squad that we have accumulated, it is perhaps more of a concern that there is little interest from other clubs to sign players we deem surplus to requirements.

yeah, and Ilkeston owe us a few favours ;-)

I think it's better to sign players as soon as possible so they have more time to get fit and gel.
I know it's more difficult with a new manager as he has to assess the present squad but he must have known the areas we need to improve,CB,Strikers etc.
IMO we need to move on and replace at least 4 or 5 players to seriously challenge for promotion this season!
Surely video evidence of entire matches is available to him. What has he done in the past year? Watched any football ? Anyone would see we are crap with sight of virtualy a whole season of video evidence in front of them.

If we'd not sacked Clough we'd have probably made those signings by now and they'd be gelling away nicely. I'm not saying it was the wrong decision, but the lack of signings is a consequence of that...
Clough signings? I thought the bloated faced arrogant git said the squad was deserving of promotion, had it not been for Brayford being injured would we nit have beaten Swindon?

Quality not quantity. He is assessing the squad and seeing what needs doing first. Let's spend the entire budget on players we don't need then we can play fullbacks at centre half. After all it worked a treat last season
Massive clear out..lets just say i hope our new man agrees

Stop panicking, willya?

NA knows his job, therefore everything's for a reason. Who knows what moves are under way? If discussions are being held, or enquiries made, it's best they're discreet, rather than broadcast the fact and alert other clubs to the fact that certain players are available.

The one thing Adkins was right to do was to look at his existing playing staff to see who'll realistically stand a chance of playing next season.

I think we need to sign at least 4 or 5 before the start of the season IMO.
A gk,unless NA is going with Howard and Long,2 x centre halves, left back as I don't rate Harris, creative midfielder and maybe 2 strikers with Done and Che,release Higdon.

Are we leaving it a bit late for new signings?
It's only a month or so to the start of the new season and we have yet to sign anyone.
A lot of players that have been released have been snapped up and soon clubs will not want to sell any players or if they do it will be for ridiculous fees.
Also, any new players will only have limited time to gel within the squad now.
Is anyone getting a bit worried?
if you watch sky theres around 2 or 3 transfers or signing free agents posted per day between the 92 clubs , so the answer would be no
most signings occur late july

What if he doesn't? You going shoes off in the car park and putting yet another manager under ridiculous pressure? I hear utter drivel like 4-5 signings required and we have to start buying now.

If there was a brat camp for football supporters they would need look no further than here in the summer.

Adkins will already know what he wants and deals he wants to do, no need to start shitting panties just yet.

Need something to happen this week, I've hit the closed season wall sucking my thumb and repeatedly beating my head against the back of my recliner!

id panic if we were going to blow 4m on a 32 year old like piggies arer hoping to, its beattie all over again

Beattie was late 20's when he joined us first time up wasn't he? You could hardly say he was a waste of money really.

We do need 4 or 5 signings,2 x centre halves, creative midfielder and at least 1 striker,if not 2 for starters.
Then a left back, goalkeeper, and possible right winger.

Unless we ship a lot of players out , i don't think we have the money , or spare spaces in the car park for that many players coming in.:D

You could hardly blame Beattie for that btlo_O
I think warnock would have spent that money more wisely instead of Robson going for the big names and hoping the rest would just come together. I thought stead would have got a load that year if more faith was shown in him after the way he ended the season before. We'll never know but we do know the Beattie deal did nothing for us.

I'm sure Adkins knows what he is doing, let him sort out what we have now then get player we need. We don't want to buy in haste.

I also think we'd have gone up if we'd kept Warnock on, or gone close. He'd have loved to have got one over on Brooking, Scudemore, Samuels and those Icelandic twats at West Ham. We could have been established in the Prem now if things had been different

Difficult to tell really, but I'm very confident that the damage on the club financially and in terms of league standing would have been far less. All he really needed to do was bring in adequate replacements for Jags, CKR, and Hulse. Something akin to the Short, Ifill, HMS signings. We wouldn't have seen the scale of transformation IMHO.
