He was here when Brooks was sold pretty quickly DCL too etc.

However we used that Brooks money excellently and nobody can really complain that our fingers were burnt on it. No issue with trading players like that if we can benefit from it.
Used the DCL money as well to get out of League one

Arblaster does appear to be on a different trajectory to us, so I wouldn't think it will be long until he eventually moves past us.

I don't think that time has arrived yet, given his limited minutes in men's football.
If he stands out in the Championship next year then it's a £10m+ conversation next Summer.

The only way I could see it happening would be if we were to agree to a figure around the above value with a 1-year-loan back.

Kyle Walker is the level to beat. I’ve not seen enough though. My Vale mates think he will though. thank

Before anyone starts.

Level meaning Genuine world class, not a cheating pervert..

I imagine it will depend if there’s interest in Souza and Anel at sufficient levels to fill the hole in the finances (on the basis Archer will go back). If not, with so few under contract, I’d expect Blaster to be our next most saleable asset.

How do you know there are holes in the finances?

We’ll have a substantial revenue drop due to being relegated. Notwithstanding that I recall Bettis / PA stating that we need to sell one over and above Archer. I can’t imagine we’ll be commanding significant sums for Souza / Anel given their performances this season. Certainly not akin to Ramsdale etc.

Do you think to the contrary?

If he stands out next year, and we don't go up, I think you're talking 2 or 3 times more than £10m. English talent, tied down to a long term contract - that's a hefty price nowadays even buying from a Championship club.

I don't know but I would be surprised if our outgoings exceed our revenue this year so maybe the drop in revenue is not a problem. I also recall listening to an interview with Bettis saying we would need to sell one player to balance the books. No names were mentioned at all.

I can't see that we would be in a position where we HAVE to sell Blaster. There are a lot of big earners leaving in the summer anyway, plus the inevitable departures of the likes of Souza, Anel, and possibly Hamer. That along with the parachute payments should put us in a reasonably healthy enough position to be able to ward off any bidders. The only possibility he goes is if the rebuilding job requires extra funds, otherwise build the team around him.

Every player has a price.

If someone meets it they get sold. Every club eventually sells best talent, as long as you are getting a fair price then it’s all part and parcel.

OA is a blade, wants to be here, is under contract and will be in an around the first team. This massively inflates the value of him to something likely unviable for other teams.

Still someone offers some stupid like £20m+ and it would be right to sell.

You might be right, just can't think of (m)any comparable players who've gone for that kind of money.
He's just not really a goalscoring, headline grabbing midfielder that would ordinarily attract those sorts of figures. He's a very tidy, box-to-box player.

We'll see what he develops into. There's still a bit of physical development left for him to be a PL mainstay, in my opinion. But his spacial awareness and ability to look after the ball are outstanding for his age.

In my view Arblaster needs a full season at Championship level under his belt. This is not just me being biased for us, but if he signed for a top half premier league team, he would probably be loaned out anyway. So better for him & us that we play him regularly next season and hopefully add a little bit more quality than we have at the moment around him.

A bit unfair to benchmark him against Kyle Walker though……without a doubt one of the best players to come out of any academy in the UK…never mind ours!

Alex Scott from Bristol is probably the guide for what Blaster might potentially be worth if he has an impressive season next year he was a true CM rather than an attacking midfielder. I think you’d be looking at somewhere between 20-30

What about Wharton? Didn't he go for 18m from Blackburn to Palace. Wasn't aware he was a big name in the championship either.

My God he has not had time to put his boots on yet . Tell West Sham and Mr Clip Kloop to go and do one . If after a couple of seasons Liverpool decide to come in for him I hope we have their pants down like they did with us . Good job he has signed that new contract ,i am sure he would like a season playing first team football rather than hanging around in the back ground at Liverpool ,He has time on his side and he is a gen Blade to .

Good shout and yes he was being touted round for about 4 million in the summer and then went for big money in January the market for Championship players has exploded
Wasn't it Scott rather than Adam being touted last summer?

I wouldn’t sell anyone to Liverpool unless we stick a £22m premium on top.

wouldnt suprise me if leeds were in for hamer and archer if they get promoted

If the going rate is 23m for Brewster with Liverpool then I wouldn’t entertain anything less than 70m! Not from them at least!

There should be no talk of selling Arblaster for at least 2 years. If teams are going to offer silly money now it’s because they know he’ll be worth far more in the future.

I'm not sure if he improves them either, although it is at least closer, and if they wanted to improve I think they can easily do better than Diaz
I’m not sure. Look at BBD’s stats in an absolutely shit PL team.

Diaz is doing well for us, yes. Problem is that Diaz isn't really a true number 9, he's more of a striker/wide forward sort of player, and Leeds have a bunch of those who are having very good seasons as well, I'm not sure Diaz is significantly better than them, if at all. If they do opt to improve their final third, it's to upgrade on Bamford or whoever the fuck else they have playing for them through the middle outside of him, and frankly they can get better players than Diaz at that role
