Yes, but as I said in my post, Currie was rated as one of the very best of his era and there are plenty on here that would tell you Woody was better. That’s without taking into consideration the likes of Badger who was also highly rated.
So, if Currie and Woody were top, top players their modern day equivalents would be the likes of De Bruyne and Mane.
Saying our players are less talented than those two is very different to saying they’re not talented.

My point was that our players do possess talent - not on the individual brilliant Ronaldo-esque scale, but all of them are high quality players. The majority of people make it sound like they're punching above their weight, but that argument can only stand for so long before people have to accept that they are indeed good players that would get into other top sides.

One off games not two legs together with some favorable draws -why not? Im 62 and when my Dad died in his seventies his stated unresolved dream was to see the Blades win the FA Cup. He said that he hoped that I may be lucky enough to see the result tha would end my family's 95 year's of hurt.

I agree Harry. Go for The Cup. I think we could win it with the first team squad and not need any "luck of the draw" that usually accompanies a cup run.

I was thinking that last night. I started going in the Porterfield era and I haven’t seen centre halves as good as our current three before, I haven’t seen full backs or wing backs as good as ours before, I haven’t seen central midfielders as good as ours before. I haven’t seen a SUFC team play football as good as this before.

To be fair, Leicester won the league and were (kind of) in a relegation battle the following season.

I think Champions League regrettably is probably a miracle too far for now. Europa League qualification is a serious possibility however, especially (and to be honest in the likely case) if the Carabao and FA cup winners end up being teams in the top 6, meaning there will be 1 or 2 extra qualification slots in the league. Am I correct that Wolves qualified with a 7th placed finish? So technically you could finish 8th and qualify if say Liverpool won both domestic cups?

If this were to happen we would definitely need to bulk the squad up considerably. I genuinely think our strongest XI could give anyone in the EL a game, it's just the sheer number of games and the travelling to the far corners of Europe. Does anyone know the financial reward for EL qualification? 'Big 6' teams turn their noses up at it but I imagine for us it would be a substantial bonus.

Not sure about the “money” but I, and I’m not lacking in ambition, would be happy to see us finish just outside the EL places. We’re on a journey and consolidation with a few high value signings in the summer would be more beneficial than having to bulk up the squad to cope with all the extra fixtures. EL/CL after next season will do nicely.

I agree, to be fair to him, he was/is so f***ing quick that at full speed, a slight nudge would knock him over. Never saw him as a diver

Oh we’re talking about it now mate. This is the best Sheffield United football team with the best manager we’ve had. And I saw that 1970’s team. Enjoy it while it lasts. These times are special.

Yes but if you win the FA Cup I don’t think you have to go through the qualification stages like you do if you finish 7th.

If I could choose, it would be via the FA Cup. But I can’t, it’s probably unrealistic to even think of Europe at the moment. I’ll discuss it seriously if we’re still close to 7th in April.

We’re in danger of getting so carried away we’ll be disappointed that we’re not in Europe next season with a new training ground and a 40k stadium when we should be delighted we’re back in the top division after decades of being crap.
