Are you nervous for Friday's derby?

I’m not trying to get a reaction. I was just pointing out that you said since 91/92 United had the upper hand in derby matches and that you were wrong.

You also said that Wednesday have been the favourite for most derby matches since then and that is clearly wrong as well.

There’s no point scoring on my part by saying that because the club that had the better team would generally have been the favourite in a derby match. Wednesday haven’t had that since 2000, apart from the 2012-2016 when we didn’t play each other.

Lol, penny has dropped....you are a Pig....all makes sense now...lol....new member around Derby time, trying to be smart, classic Pig behaviour!

I didn't say anywhere United had the upper hand.....I quoted LEAGUE statistics and said that we had "held our own".....

The rest is just my opinion, which I am perfectly entitled to, unless you have bookmakers statistics to prove otherwise, which, being a far more intelligent Pig, I presume you probably do....

Enjoy watching it on the TV Friday....

DH9......(David Hirst 9).......even a Pig user name, can't believe it took this long to click, (mind you, we are in-bred over in S2 aren't we....lol....) why else would you be debating such a minor point and trying to say that Wednesday's record was equal/better over the last 20 odd years, whilst playing down a possible "favourites" tag.....

Rumbled me owd son!

Oink, oink!

I'm nervous that Sky commentators will fall into the trap of referring to the match using the often used phrase "Frank Lampard's derby".

I'm nervous that CW will once again leave Billy on the subs bench until 75 mins.

I'm nervous that despite not gelling as a team the other side still had a decent amount of shots against Norwich.

I'm nervous that Mark Duffy might catch the Flu.

I'm nervous that Fletcher had a Scottish call up and this might re-energise him.

That said, I'm really looking forward to the game.

I wasn't nervous, but woke up this morning and Friday is now close by, so that nerves have started.

There's 'too much' in our favour for me to get cocky about it.

Still no nerves here, any way you look at it we are way ahead of them at the moment & you have to think that an average performance by us would be enough to comfortably see them off. But I don't want an average performance, I want us to out of the traps & tear into them from first whistle to last & win by a good margin, & I think we will, especially if Duffs & Billy start as I hope.
If our players put the same amount of effort into the game as theirs then we win, end of.

Shitting Bricks to be honest. September last year wasn't that bad, we had less to lose having just come up from league one, that would have been a valid excuse, and thats what made it worse for Wednesday to take. Tables have turned this time round, we're being backed to win it by 100 goals, so if we lose or draw, it would be the most embarrassing thing ever.
So how did you rate the shitty, inconsequential no show goalless draw in January?
A draw would not be shameful this week.

Thing is this time they are shit in the worst possible way.

The manager has no idea what his best team or formation is so it’s pot luck for them to drop on something that fits the players.

The fans are so demoralised this time they are suggesting 5-4-1 to keep the score down. We’ve been underdogs before and been below them, but we’ve always been “bring ‘em on” type underdogs. Not the white flag waving shit on porktalk.

Aside from perhaps Bannan and Reach, even their once lauded players such as Lees are getting berated. Some of the youngsters who were being pushed as promising are seen as showing their limitations. The keeper is copping it now.

Plus all that nonsense of alienating Westwood, Hutchison, Boyd etc can’t be good for morale. Forestieri is pretty much never match fit. How much does he want to play? 24 games in 95.

They were so demotivated they got spunked 4-0 by a Norwich team that hasn’t impressed me that much to be honest. That’s 0-5 vs Oldham territory for us. And even when Clive Mendonca and McEwan’s rabble got that showing up, it wasn’t the 4th loss on the spin.

There’s something rotten about them this time until they flog who they need to. There’s just a lack of belief.

Now don’t get me wrong, there’s players capable of a worldy and United have to be cute to that, but that’s not a 90 minute tactic to hope Reach or Forestieri slams one in and the team that doesn’t keep clean sheets just holds out.

You never know but I don’t remember them being surrounded by such apathy. For us don’t forget, Wilder will be smarting from the lack of performance at Forest. That doesn’t happen often under him.

This time there’s also an assuredness about Egan, Norwood and McGoldrick which wasn’t there before. Plus Bash, Jack, Fleck, they aren’t players raising their game anymore. They’re proven at this level.

Not arrogance but we can look forward with confidence at home that we have an accomplished top three team and we’re playing a relegation candidate in disarray.

How shit were we under Adams? We still beat Leeds and Forest at home. Anything can happen in a derby, form is irrelevant.

I believe it will be a tight game but I believe we have the best side and if we play at our best we should win.

The only concern I have is the bad weather could turn it into a bit of a lottery.

I'm so nervous I'll have a few beers on Friday and leave my incontinence trousers at home while I sit in BLUT. Bad luck for those below.

Not nervous yet. For me personally I'm still miffed at losing to Forest which has temporarily took the wind out of my sales, but come Friday I'll be nervous but also really looking forward to it.

You shouldn't go to sales when you have the wind - bargain hunting is a serious business and it's not fair on the other shoppers .:)

Crikey!

That’s the kind of logic you lot would rip apart a Wednesday fan for.

FA Cup Semi Finals at Wembley don’t count.

If we're including cup games in the build up to a league game then we should really note that the League Cup defeat in 2000 and the FA Cup defeat in 1993 both came in extra time. That makes the record 8 United wins, 12 draws (two Wednesday extra time wins) and 6 Wednesday wins. What can't be denied, however, is that the two recent draws have been better results for Wednesday (last season's 0-0, the 2-2 in League One) than United.

All that notwithstanding, I wouldn't say I'm nervous about the match, more that I can't stand the thought of losing to Them, even if that is a lower chance than normal.

Never confident before a derby really but I’m absolutely buzzing for Friday. They’ve always got a punchers chance but we’ve got nothing to fear

I don't think what's gone before in previous derbies really counts in these matches, and I've seen plenty.

For me it's about morale as much as anything.

And not being complacent.

We all know what United will do in this match, as they're doing so well, so for me the Blades are not an unknown variable.

Wednesday are, as is any team after a 0-4 hiding.

It's a rum situation.

Jos is now playing for his job so will he make changes?

Is he prepared to eat humble pie and reinstate those he's prematurely discarded, or would he rather be sacked than back down?

Hate Derby day, I'm always a glass half empty man when they come around. Surely Wednesday have to react to last weekends result, i fear this is going to be a lot tighter and harder than many predict.:(

I'm only nervous about how many we're gonna stuff them by. Oh and how crap I'm gonna feel Sat AM after celebrating :mad:o_O:D

I know 3rd v 17th at home v a team that has lost 3-0 3-1 & 4-0. & a manager who is "on the brink" confidence should be at an all time high. But like OP says i dont like the gulf between the 2 sides & how everything points a to utd victory. Utd have shorter odds to the championship title 9/2 than wednesday to win the derby 11/2

If we capitalise on our chances like villa & wigan then we will be fine & it could be a rout but too many in these 2 championship seasons. Games where we had all the ball, territory & Had majority of chance but if you dont nake it count like v stoke city. You leave yourself at risk for a team to have 1 chance & score for an undeserved point or 3
Last Saturday Rotherham lying 21st beat Swansea lying 8th. Funny old game football

They're going to have a field day on Pork-talk Mark's view from if the unthinkable happens :(

Looks like the majority of our support will be paralysed by nerves again then. Super.

How can anybody not be , it’s a game we should win but it’s a local derby anything can happen form goes out of the window.
Even the thought of them piggy bastards winning is unbearable let alone the reality.
For god sake let it not happen and may good triumph over evil. Amen.
