I know football is a business but baffles me that these clubs don’t seemingly try and put their prospects is the most advantageous situation to succeed long term. Instead of squeezing a couple more quid out of clubs….

same with us with Jebbo I guess. Now I understand some fringe players might be close to action, and depend on other targets but most of these youth players are not going to get a kick.

why not decide early :

  • what club style suits them best
  • get some assurances about game time
  • gauge where the player feels most comfortable / fancies

and make a decision earlier so that the player can get in. Get a preseason with the new club, so he’s up and running for the start of the season. Seems a much more sensible way to ensure the loan works for all parties then putting them behind the 8 ball and playing catch up.

Yes, was loaned by Leicester to their sister club OH Leuven. Impressive player, I think he is what you need in midfield. Lots of energy, was known for making the most high speed runs, good technique, can score a goal and has physical presence.
How would you compare him to Coulibaly?

Have to laugh…we’ve gone all out to get all these sister clubs like the big boys, but we can’t even stack our club with players good enough to loan the sister clubs, never mind improve the first team.

I'd be happy with Sowah from the clips I've seen, similar to Diallo but seems a bit stronger. Would also prefer him over Poveda, he's quick and decent at dribbling but seem to remember his final ball being as good as Baldocks.

Neither.

Kids on loan from the big clubs will not get us promoted.

Proper scouting and buying the young players from lower leagues etc with future value is the way to do it.
Didn’t do us bad when we got Henderson. Didn’t do Derby bad when they nearly managed it under the inept Frank Lampard.

Answered your point for me…Derby didn’t get promoted.
Hendo was key, though I could say a keeper has less influence on goal creation than these kids we are expecting to come in and create shit loads and score goals…having no such record of having managed it before in this pressured and aggressive division

They wouldn’t have been anywhere near but for Mount, Tomori and Wilson though. It’s not binary.

Oliver Skipp was Norwich’s lynchpin last season.

It’s not ideal, but just because they’re loans don’t mean you won’t go up.

He’s going to Club Brugge

Just seen John percy say the same thing. This board better have deals all lined up because if it gets to the end of the window and we have signed 3 players with them being davies, the 35 year old midfielder (forgot his name) and a goalkeeper, the fans are going to turn very quickly. Especially if performances are still at this level due to lack of signings

Personally, I think we need a mix. Simply signing 5 on loan is short-termism to the max. You need to bring a few in and sign a few. The obvious area is midfield where two of the current starting 3 are 30ish (and crap). If we simply loan/1-year contract then we're basically kicking the ball down the line. On the other hand, bringing in talented PL youth gets us creativity and technical skills we're unlikely to be able to afford to buy.

Yep Sowah to Brugge confirmed

Another ❌ on our list of targets 😔

I prefer the look of Elanga anyway, I can't wait for him to go somewhere else on loan too.
I can’t wait either. Will be someone like Huddersfield who we 100% could have beaten to his signature but unfortunately recruitment team have been bone idle (hopefully this will come back to bite me)

Maybe the recruitment needs to include more permanent players than first thought, I didn't like the loan policy entirely anyway. It appears that the better loan players are often wanted by clubs that are in a better position than us/higher league, Garner at Forest the exception. I think we could do a lot worse than signing some decent players from this league or League One. Most clubs at this level are skint and we should be able to prize some prize of the better players away from other teams, with the exception of players at Fulham WBA and probably Bournemouth. An example being Swift at Reading, Wallace at Millwall and maybe Ben Brereton at Blackburn. Then come next season if we don't go up we've got an asset that is ours and not going back to another club and we have to start again with recruitment.
