well if you can get away with it then why dont we have a go at it? we surely afford to to put a bit of money into the team, im 99% sure this would bring the dwindling number of fans back to BDTBL to repay the faith in money spent.

Unfortunately a business plan that is 'shit or bust' which is what Cardiff seem to have, often ends up being both. There are still clubs who seem to be willing to do this, but just because someone else is following the path of foolishness is no reason for us to do likewise.

99% sure? I'm not 10% sure. the fans are still turning up in good numbers, but with the economy as it is, football has gone from being essential to being a luxury. The shortfall in ST sales has a lot more to do with that than with anyone taking a stand against the club for its choice of manager for example. If it wasn't, then 4,000 ST's would have been sold last week, wouldn't they..?

Fookin hell foolish spending .........................thats what McCabes been doing with his football spending ! What a mug !

Cardiff will get promoted and be in the Premier League with a decent manager. We won't. Ridsdale will soon be gone and will leave someone else in charge. Like Man U (but in this case due to the power the Welsh FA has in England) Cardiff will never be held to account for finiancial mismanagement or debt and will continue to be alllowed to rack up debt for years and years!!

Basically - they win and will have some great times in the Prem - possibly even winning some silverware. We won't.

Look where that option put Portsmouth mate, they didn't get away with it in the end did they!

Yeah but they won the FA cup. Probably worth what they are going through at the moment.

Cardiff have balls'd up the last 2 seasons more than we have, why should this season be any different ?

Changing the subject away from the tax dodgers, I notice Anichebe didn't make Everton's squad last night and is down as having a knee injury, expected back next week.

Portsmouth spent big, and massive wages.
We need to spend a little to even get us anywhere near. (e.g. Bristol City - Brett Pitman Leeds - Paynter Doncaster - Sharp) and the best has got to be Huddesfield - Naysmith)
These are players that have been signed cheap and low wages and all quality finishers.
You cant honestly feel the squad we have is good enough.

It's far from good enough syd, we all know that mate, but if McCabe isn't going to open his pockets, then we aren't going to be spending any dollar, so will have to work with what we got, it's going to be a very tough season indeed.

your rate with it being tough, but then again on the brightside i suppose if we have a relegation battle it will be better than a boring sat in middle table nothing to play for season, unless weve got a crop of youngsters that speedo wants to try and bring through.

What, close to going out of business? Yes, I guess that is well worth winning the FA Cup for...

I see what you are saying, but I would bet that they could go out of business, re-form the club at the bottom of the pyramid (like AFC Wimbledon) and work their way back up and still manage to win the FA cup AGAIN before we do.

Still targeting new blood

Gary Speed is still hopeful of strengthening his squad ahead of next week as the transfer deadline for permanent deals draws closer.

Despite bringing in defender Jean Calve on a year long loan earlier this week the United boss says that he is still pursuing all avenues for further recruitment:

"I hope we can do business and bring at least one more in by the time the window shuts at 6pm next Tuesday. We have loads of lists and names kicking around, too many to remember so it is a good job that we have them written down!"

French triallist winger Francis Laurent played half a game for the Blades Reserves on Wednesday night and Speed hasn't ruled out further opportunities:

"Unfortunately, he picked up a bit of a knock but we will keep looking and assessing him."

Meanwhile, Calve has made a good impression on the manager during his first week at the Club "He's looked very good, as he did the first time he came a few weeks ago. He seems to get on well with the lads even though his English isn't great just yet."
