Another Blade in Heaven

Sadly yesterday we lost our Dad,Tony Fisher aged 79. My dad was a lifelong Blade,season ticket holder and shareholder. He regaled in tails of how he taught Chris Wilder all he knew,as my dad had managed Chris at Brunsmeer. He told me out of all the lads he managed, Chris was the last one who he thought would become a manager. When Chris took over, my dad attended the fans forum at Handsworth WMC and dads arrival was perfectly timed in sinc with Chris's arrival. Chris made a proper fuss of my dad which made his day. My dad managed to attend the first 2 home games this season,albeit sat in a wheelchair as he was so weak. Happily he managed to see us beat Palace before he passed.Fly safe dad love you always UTB

Sorry to hear that Brook, I use to watch a lot of Brunsmeer in the late 80's and 90's both home and away, I was always annoying Anne and Joyce for more of their excellent bacon sandwiches from about 10 onwards.....wouldn't be uncommon for me to walk out of the cabin with 3. Then go back for more later on, Sincere condolences.

Sorry to hear that Brook, I use to watch a lot of Brunsmeer in the late 80's and 90's both home and away, I was always annoying Anne and Joyce for more of their excellent bacon sandwiches from about 10 onwards.....wouldn't be uncommon for me to walk out of the cabin with 3. My dad told me a little more about Chris. He said he was a very gifted footballer,but was not physical enough. Dads plan was to get Chris Kay (aka Knocker) to rough Wilder up in training to toughen him up. Unfortunately this backfired and Wilder's mum asked my dad to release him as he felt bullied. I think Wilder joined Sheffield Rangers after that. At under 16 level when dad managed them, Brunsmeer won the league and cup double only losing 1 game all season.

Sorry to hear ,and I hated Brunsmeer ,only beat them once at every level ,and that's when Hirst played. RIP ,nice words.

Condolences. Brunsmeer were a top team in the early 80s along with throstles and Middlewood rovers. I played a year younger than your dads team but remember knocker and steff oldfield, good players. Home pitches were on James fairley where the hotel is at meadowhead. Happy days. Chin up pal.
