I’d now support cancellation and us going down on PPG. Its very hard to justify continuing the season in the current National situation.

That would be very harsh though, given that PPG wasn't applied last year which would have given us a European place. To then use it the following season to relegate us would be double standards and a double whammy for us.

Interestingly, it would be the exact opposite for Villa. They'd have been saved from relegation by one method and then given a European place by the next one.

Seen a few posts on Twitter saying that every professional game needs an ambulance / crew in attendance. If that’s true, then to carry football on when it’s been reported the waiting time is upto 9 hours in places is madness.
I believe thats correct it does need at least 1 due to the potential complications of a serious head injury or cardiac arrest.

Wilder even said today in the presser that he wouldn't be surprised if this season isn't completed.

Possibly. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55615893

CW quoted in the above as well :

"We'll just go with what the Government and Premier League have to say and, if it's the case to carry on, we'll carry on. But I don't think I'm being controversial if I say I don't think anyone would be surprised if we don't carry on with the way it's sweeping through the country."

Only taken a passing interest in football outside of United this season but had no idea Trevor Birch had been made chief exec of the EFL. I'm assuming it's the same one that was at the Lane a few years back?

They can't relegate us at this stage of the season. I think it will just be suspended for 2 to 3 weeks.

That would be a waste of time, this Lockdown is going to be until April, can’t justify restarting football once it stops if the country is still under the toughest restrictions. They either continue or stop for two months.

Yep it’s him..... when it was announced I wondered what the EFL was looking to sell off.

If they pause for euros couldn't restart to nearly August then 12 games left takes it to September then a closed season of 4 weeks means starting in late October....but the World cup 22 is in June
....Not really feesable

World cup 2022 starts in November. Agree though there is no chance of completing the season should it stall for a month.

If the cases continue on its present pregectory, I imagine that there will come a time very shortly, (before mid Feb or sooner) the season will initially get suspended due to the NHS being on its knees. The medical profession continue to state that it will get much worse in the weeks and months to follow and the restart date will get kicked further and further down the calendar year until they run out of time to complete. The powers that be will eventually null and void the season so not to mess up the 21/22 season, by which time the majority of the public would have had at least their first jab.

The hospital I work at is projecting the peak of this wave will be around January 16th. They already have 50% more cases than at the highest point last year, so if the season isn’t suspended in the next week or two (imho at the moment it probably should be) I wouldn’t expect it will be stopped after that.

The Premier League won’t be suspended, not a chance there’s far too much money involved. A lot of clubs would face insolvency if the season was null and void and the TV money didn’t land on their doormat. 😬

It’ll get suspended, just as we start winning again, such is our luck.

I wouldn't mind but if we were flying high like last season some of the posts on this thread would strike a different tone.
Think a year of watching soul less fan devoid dull football has changed a lot of attitudes to whats on offer

Its just not football without fans

The replies on here are evident that it's more to do with the current League position than anything else.

People are claiming the League should be stopped for the health of the Country, but have the cheek to argue that only if the season is to be null and voided.
Bringing up rules about 'X amount of the games have to be played', it shows their intentions.

the rules are the rules
its impossible to finish a league with less than half the fixtures are complete as not everyone has played each other for starters
plus the league title is based on 38 fixtures, its a test of form over a long period
whos to say we cant win 15 of the remaining 21 and finish mid table
or a mid table club could emulate our start and collapse into the bottom 3
seen it happen before

You're showing your own agenda now.

If you genuinely want to cancel a season using a severe reason like 'Protecting the health of the Country', you wouldn't give a toss about how the season ended.

of course I care
football is suffering from forcing a sub standard product on us
professional football is about the fans , its what seperates it from the regional sunday league in concord park
Name me any game youve seen this season thats grabbed your attention for 90 minutes

every game is a flat poor excuse devoid of entertainment
40 50 60000 empty seat stadiums are offering up training sessions with VAR and its just not watchable
