There's a new place to drink pre-match opening on the footprint of Bramall Lane, in the creation of Annie's Bar which will open it's doors for the first time tomorrow evening at 6pm.

Located in the Yorkshire Suites on the 1st floor of the Copthorne Hotel, the bar is open to all season ticket holders with reduced bar prices in a club and Sheffield themed environment.

The bar will be open on Home match days and weekends and will also offer food - fans can take a look from 6pm tomorrow.

Carl Bradshaw will be hosting from the stage and there will be a range of pub-styled food on offer.

I will be visiting the Wagon in Chap. The Rutland, The Scholar and Bar 27 pre match so will give it a swerve

Been for a scout on the way to the Lion, Looks well, they've kitted the room out nicely and there was quite a few people in early doors.

Got some good looking food on the go, here's tonight's options:

Not sure if the prices are sticking but here's the current bar list:

Er, they might want to check the spelling of one of those whiskys.

Not just the whiskies, these are all lifted from that sheet:

"Gamers"
"Rekordeling"
"Koppaberg"
"Absolute"
"Prossecco"
"Beefeter"

and for the pedants
"Pinot"

A quick refresher on the use of the apostrophe wouldn't go amiss, either.

Well done to the club for trying something new. The room was spacious. The food looked good. The quiz was enjoyable. I like Boddingtons and I can forgive a few spelling mistakes. :p

Food was good actually and apart from there not being sufficient seats (which they rectified) it was a pleasant evening.

TC was there as was Mark Labbett from The Chase. A big (and I mean BIG) Blades fan and works for Redtooth I was told.

I've often said that if the club wants more of the fans' matchday spend they have to match what is on offer in the local pubs in terms of quality and price. It looks like someone has sort of given it a go which is to their credit

The food looked nice, did anyone sample it?

If they're after feedback as per the SLO thread I would suggest the following:-

1) More chairs and tables particularly near the food serving area
2) Reduced food prices. £4.50 for a small pie is particularly excessive.
3) Reduced bar prices. I know they're claiming that already but £3.50 a pint surely can't be much of a reduction on their normal bar price?
4) Meal/Drink bundles. E.g. Chip butty and a pint (£5). Pork sandwich and a soft drink (£5).

I've just noticed "compliments" for £1.50.

"Oooo... you look lovely, duck. Have you cut your hair? It really suits you... and those red and white stripes look fantastic on you. Really slimming. That'll be three quid please."

I think we can all agree that perhaps someone who is more au fait with the English written word should be placed in charge of typing up a replacement bar tariff and menu.

Here's a clue to get them started... complements. I get the feeling they knew their own limitations enough not to try "accompaniments".

Beat me to it.

You can't charge £1.50 for something billed as complimentary..... actually, £1.50 sounds a bit steep, even if it's complementary.

As for £3.50 a pint being reduced, I'm sure it is, but it must still be rather more than the going rate at the Railway?

As I alluded to above, some credit for making "an" effort, but clearly they need to make "more" effort.

Is it beyond the wit and wisdom of whoever is driving this to despatch a couple of willing lads to go round the local pubs on a matchday and find out exactly what is being offered to whom and where? They also need to bear in mind that the ast majority of matchday routines are set in stone and have been for a long time, so it's going to take a huge amount of time and perseverance even if they get the "package" right?

To the floor, what could they do that would get you out of the Lion/Cricks/Railway/Sporty/Rutland etc and in there?

I think the people they're most likely to attract are people who go to the hotel already (normally three deep at the bar and not really a "pub" atmosphere), season ticket holders who go in the "Tunnel Bar" and people who go in the ground early for food and drink.

Which raises another issue in that the "Tunnel Bar" is part of the ground and presumably United earn revenue from it. While the hotel is not owned by the club (or PLC) and presumably United don't earn revenue from it. Therefore could Annie's Bar actually mean the club loses custom and revenue?

Additional question for the SLO, "Do United earn any revenue from Annie's Bar at the hotel?"

He was in a pub in Dronfield last week. Never knew he was local, but he's obviously a man of good taste. :)
He's neither local or a Blades fan. He's from Wales and supports Swansea,
as stated works for Redtooth who's owner Martin Green is part of our board
in some way or another, so no doubt a guest of the fore mentioned when he's
over here.
