Nothing like an unexpected rendition of Annie’s song to get you in the mood for the play offs. Or anything in life really. Doing an operating list this afternoon and the anaesthetist’s play list had our anthem loud and proud. Had to change the words of course.

When or where has Annie’s song brightened up your day when you least expected it ?

During the dying embers of my marriage back in 1997, I took myself off alone to Zante for a week to basically get away from all the shit and bad stuff that was going on around me.

One of the local bars was run by a lovely couple from Leicester and one particular night, they had a lady Irish folk singer & musician on the stage doing a turn. One of the songs she did was "Annie's Song" to which she received a polite round of applause when she finished.

I'd had a few beers by this time so I stood on a table and proudly announced that I'd like to do the "Sheffield version" and promptly belted out the Greasy Chip Butty to a stunned bar. Being Leicester City fans the owners knew the song well and were absolutely pissing themselves at my rendition.

When I finished with the "na na na na na na OOOOOO", there was a moments silence until the owners gave a loud cheer and started clapping, followed, thankfully, by the rest of the audience.

Certainly brightened up my day ;)

Was on a cruise and saw a solo flautist perform in the theatre one evening. She did Annie's Song and it sounded beautiful as an instrumental version on the flute. I was pissed and got a bit choked up 😂

Owt by the Macc Lads gets me proper ramped up for a sesh

I award you a platinum 'like' for the correct amount of 'na's.'

Meet her at the love parade, closing night of Gatecrasher at Eden in Ibiza 2007. Empty club, jumping around shouting come on!!!!😁

To be honest Annie's song is as boring as fook. On my recent op the anaesthetist (a fella from Middlesborough) found me a metal playlist to listen to while the surgeons messed around inside my guts, he reckoned it made them work faster 🤣

I read that as "solo flatuist" at first and got thinking how a farted rendition of GCB would sound...

A calm chill song, "for my lady', by the Moody Blues, special and private memories.

Very related to the blades, no share on here.
❤️❤️

Plus this works as well

Sousse in Tunisia 2005, hotel entertainment was one bloke and an organ, did a few John Denver songs, Leaving on a jet plane, Country Roads etc and Annie's Song all dreadfully sung but the latter still got me on my feet singing albeit surrounded by other bemused hotel guests and an embarrassed girlfriend.

James Galway (famous flautist) had a hit with the instrumental version.

I was a flautist as a lad and had the silver plated version of James Galway's gold Yamaha flute. I could play Annie's song pretty well myself to be honest.

That's a boring story innit? 🤣

I read an article recently that suggests rock music works better for surgeons than classical. They were talking like AC/DC though... not sure how heavy you're talking but I'm not sure I'd like somebody operating on me whilst listening to Carcass lol.

A new day dawn's....
