£1.7m for a first team player, in the PL, seems unreal. Was expecting that we'd be looking at players 2 or 3 times that price and even then we'd be pretty far away from Internationals with World Cup experience. Unreal.
I’d hope given the fees here we’re going to spread the investment out into more players and so increase our chance of having hits. If it’s a case of 4 in for around 10-15 million total spent then we might be in a pickle as we’re then effectively gambling on being smarter than everyone else and say we’ve found these players no one else has which is highly unlikely.Bit like Wilders crop of £100m bunch?

...only if he is good enough during the next two seasonsApparently beat off Galatasaray and Lorient for his signing.
Only 2 mill euros + add ons.
Pretty good deal![]()
Love this from him (sorry for the TikTok link). Don't know how he plays but the attitude will be spot on.
Sheffieldunited.news literally just rehashes any gossip from the internet. It's got no actual source of information, there's no need to click on it if you read this forum anyway. It's presumably just someone doing it for advertising revenue.Too cheap?
This seems more realistic

Sheffield United close to signing £4m international player
It's claimed the Blades are closing on what we hope will be the first of many summer signingswww.sheffieldunited.news
And if £4m is true, then this might add weight to the article above?

Sheffield United discover the demand Brondby are placing on their deal for Anis Ben Slimane
Sheffield United have been told that they must ‘front load’ their bid for Brondby’s Anis Ben Slimane, as the Danes attempt to reinvest the money they will receive for the midfielder in new talent.www.thestar.co.uk
The new foreign outlook is great but I do have concerns about losing our identity/ethos (given lack of funds etc it’s a big part of our strength)…Signed just to do that speech every week.![]()
People still seem to quote it as a source, after the first article I read on there I've never been back. Diabolical website.Sheffieldunited.news literally just rehashes any gossip from the internet. Top blade is Keith and his brothersReally excited about the signing of Slimane, assuming it happens. He's clearly a big talent and talk of Milan and Arsenal interested in him in his earlier career suggests that he is a player of big potential. Also I know it's only the highlights reel and they always show the best of a player, but I've not seen a better one than the one on Slimane. His touch and number of through balls is very impressive; he takes a few risks with the ball but in fairness he has the ability to do it. I'm hoping, like with Anel, other clubs will be thinking where've you got this guy from he's class.
Also the fee is small by PL standards, there are bargains out there like this abroad, some come off some won't but as a club we've generally done better with smaller buys than bigger buys! Keith Broughton summed that up under Harry, think it was something like this
"We've had some great un's wit small money buys"!
Love how we're signing international players these days too! I remember back in 1992 we were linked with a Swedish left back who'd just played for Sweden in Euro '92, think he was called Ericsson or similar (I know that's not narrowing it down!) but it didn't happen but then not long after we got Flo and Nilsen although I didn't rate either in fairness, but we never signed any international players for years, never had anyone playing in a World Cup, Euro's etc, and now we've got about 8 internationals, granted they're not playing for Brazil, but nonetheless it's really exciting times. On the flip side, don't want another Flo or Fahti if possible!
His first league match was in 1-1 draw against Derby, the 3-1 defeat at home to Arsenal was his second. Please no, I couldn’t believe we were splashing £100,000 on a striker. Expected him getting a hat trick every game. Think we lost first match he played in 0-5 at home against Arsenal
Gave us a fine night out in Halifax , what more do you want ?Please no, I couldn’t believe we were splashing £100,000 on a striker. Expected him getting a hat trick every game. Think we lost first match he played in 0-5 at home against Arsenal
Jan Eriksson scored the equaliserLove how we're signing international players these days too! I remember back in 1992 we were linked with a Swedish left back who'd just played for Sweden in Euro '92, think he was called Ericsson or similar (I know that's not narrowing it down!) but it didn't happen
The star is a piece of shit."As The Star revealed earlier this week, Heckingbottom and his coaching staff are preparing to ramp-up their activity in overseas markets after identifying several “niche” targets within them."
The Star knows bugger all and only releases 'news' once it's been released online. Not worth them having a football section. Truly awful.
But then what do we call "Benie" Traore? We all just need to agree a nickname nice and early for this lad, "Beni" sounds good to me
Jan Eriksson scored the equaliser
It's like the when half the squad had the last name Robinson all over againBut then what do we call "Benie" Traore?
Big Beni and Lil Beni
Very good!Maybe he's the one to take Billy's number.
Then he can be Ben 10!
