Outgoing? Anel

Should give us the funds to sign Worrell + a keeper + A N Other
Only if Souza also goes, we need to generate that £20-30m first, assuming the new owners aren't in for this window and we're continuing as we would normally have to.

After last season, whether attitude or ability, not that bothered. He was good in the Championship but even then there was a drop off in his performances, i think timed around having his first child. He got 12 yellow cards in 36 appearances usually because he frequently gets on the wrong side of his man. sometimes then his tackles look great or he gets booked but all stemming from poor positioning.

First few games for us Jesus, he looked electric and like he was genuinely enjoying himself. Then came back after glandular fever having lost pace and repeatedly, irritatingly giving away daft free kicks and yellows always for dragging attacking players back by their shirt.

At first that pointed to not being 100%, after that, just lazy defending. And as we've all said, last season he plain couldn't be arsed.

So if we get a decent fee, fair play. GLTT miserable bleeder headed to the most downbeat part of the country, it's a match made in heaven.....as is the idea of "Anel Ahmedhodžić" said in a Black Country accent.

He wasn't excellent in his first year, he was decent for 3 months and bange average after glandular fever.

And?

I thought post glandular he was bang average.

I'm allowed to have the opinion 🤣

Also us having Ndiaye second when he was head and shoulder above everyone that season should negate that system anyway.

Clearly we can't be trusted to score correctly.

If we sell him for a good fee it would be a big success story. Bringing in a youngish lad that we have scouted for a while, for a decent price and then selling them for quite a bit more. This is exactly what we need to be doing.

Just got to hope we do the re-invest a lot better this time.

100%

£3m to £20m in 2 years.

In an ideal world you’d then look to do the same again with 2/3 players in the £3-5m range and repeat

He’s excellent carrying the ball and when he first signed was such a goal threat both with his head and feet. Unfortunately he’s just not good enough defensively without players like Baldock and Egan either side of him, and tbf to him I’d spit dummy out if I had to play in a defence with Trusty. We just need the money more than him right now so GLTTL.

Agreed about his skills in carrying the ball, Anel strikes me as a player who would play better in a team with more possession where he could do more on the ball.

When we had more of the ball in the championship he always looked better with the ball at his feet, making runs out wide and into midfield, which cost us the goal against York.

Last season when didn't see a lot of the ball he didn't look as good because he had to do a lot of work without the ball.

If an obviously it’s a big if we get the kind of fee that’s being rumoured for him then it’s an exceptional piece of business by United even if he goes to Wolves and suddenly turns it round and becomes a top performer. His attitude here for the last year has been shocking.

Hopefully it allows United to press the button on deals for Burrows, Worrall and M. Cooper as that would really strengthen us at the back especially Cooper who i’d see as a real signing of intent. That would still leave us with a spot free at RCB as Anel’s direct replacement and we’ve not seen any rumours recently linking us to that kind of player. I’d hope we’d bring in a player with a similar profile to Anel in that spot not a kid but someone with more room for development and resale value than JLT, Trusty and Worrall. We’d have a pretty experienced group with those 3 and could take a chance on bringing in someone in their early 20’s that we think we can develop into more than a good Championship CB.

Just posted on Bogle thread. We were linked back in April with Ashley Phillips of Spurs, only a loan signing but RCB 6 foot 4 in height previously of Blackburn.

Yeah and we’ve been linked with McKenna previously but not for a while. Not sure how I’d feel about Phillips on loan. I’d rather go out and try and get someone like Finn Burns on a perm

The high asking prices for Souza and Anel are likely linked to the takeover. Presumably selling at less than book value worsens the financial position for the club and therefore effects what the perspective new owner would pay. PA will hold out for more or won't deal would be my guess. All that changes with a new owner.
Book value for Ahmedhodzic is around £2m; for Souza it’ll be about £5m. There’s no danger of us causing a loss on disposal.

Speaking of Blackburn, Hayden Carter would be an interesting option to replace Anel and fits the criteria that Yogi's post outlines. Established but young with room to improve. Physically good and quite right sided positionally

Malmo have a sell on fee don't forget.

So they will have having 13% of the fee apparently.
