Outgoing? Anel

Ideally I want him to stay and sort his attitude out. Anel and Souttar in a four would be a fantastic (even though they are both right footed). Can't see us getting anyone better.

Whatever happens, it could do with being sorted quickly.
The only rumblings at the moment concern outgoings and we're running out of time to strengthen.

It sounds like the new owners are now unofficially in charge so we could do with seeing the colour of their money.

Surprised there hasn't been more chatter about Anel leaving. Seems like Selles has gone with a 'starting XI' today at Burton and he's in the 2nd team. He has also affirmed Robinson as captain which suggests maybe a plan to start him presumably alongside Bindon.

I would love Anel to stay and extend, letting him leave on a free at the end of the year is going to cost us a lot of money to have him for the year which simply isn't a luxury we can afford.

I really want to see us sell him & replace with Charlie Hughes.
I think it'd leave some change in the pot for another player.

Anel's good but not irreplaceable and we can't afford to let him walk on a free.

Yeah I am at the point where we could do with cashing in on Anel, surprised we didn't last year.

If we have to cash in on 1 more player then I’d rather it be Anel. He proved me wrong last season by not sulking and putting in some good performances, but he’s already openly spoken about keeping his options open so it’s unlikely he’ll sign a new contract whilst in the Championship.

Ideally, I still think we need another 2 CB’s, Phillips and another, we surely can’t have JLT as a starting CB again if we’re serious about promotion

The prospect of JLT starting the season at CB doesn't bear thinking about. If Anel wants to leave then agree we have to sell but what are we doing to try and keep him? These are questions that should be being asked of the manager now. Looks like we are not spending much this season so a loan possibly at CB in the form of Phillips would be a start. Yet we are so short of numbers in this position we really need another.

Even if we could only get 3 or 4 million it would be worth doing and putting towards Hughes or Phillips, who'd both be long term replacements

It feels like we should make moves to try and get Hughes in this summer with Hull's financial situation - apparently they can't afford to trigger further installments on the fee they paid for him

This would still only leave us with 2 permanent senior CBs though, which isn't enough. I've been saying we need to strengthen permanently in the right/central defensive area for what feels like 3 seasons now and we just haven't done anything in that regard

Ideally for me we'd keep Anel and sign Hughes. It feels like we should be able to. Selling Souza for a great fee reduces pressure to sell Anel for what might be comparatively little. Also, it feels like if we were as strong as Anel / Hughes / Bindon / Robinson at CB, keeping him would be worth the gamble as promotion would be very possible

Unless Selles thinks he can get another gear out of Ahmedhodzic, we really should be looking to move him on. The proviso being we do get to reinvest whatever we get in that position. You would think we need to finish this window with at least one centre back on a long term contract.

Not seen anyone linked nor him agitating for a move.

We could always open discussions for a new contract. He has a similar trajectory to us.

It’s not as if he’s going to leave for nothing and then cash in massively with Man U.

We’re at the right level.

Maybe he’s actually settled and his wife is too. Didn’t they just welcome their second child?

We paid anywhere between 3.5-4.5m for him. His departure wouldn’t come with the regret kf a Brewster or McBurnie getting nothing back on your 20m.

I love Anel and don’t understand some of the negative comments towards him.
Put a decent CB next to him aka Souter and he’s amazing
Put Robbo next to him and he can’t play his own game as he’s constantly thinking about Robbo fucking up.

Was about to post similar. With a commanding presence next to him he's one of the best CBs in the Championship.

I would add a RB as well as CB

I like Seriki but can’t help thinking another injury is just a tackle away. I thought we’d lost him for a while last night but fortunately he was ok

Some of the younger lads playing seem to have progressed but apart from One would probably benefit from a loan. (Hampson, Marsh, Sanauskas). We have the numbers and therefore they might find it difficult to break into the squad at this stage

Cashing in is a double edged sword.

We cash in, and arguably give ourselves a reduced chance of promotion. This against the backdrop of a) us getting a significantly reduced fee due to his contract situation, and b) a potentially false assumption that he wants to leave/or miss out on seeing his contract out.

If on the other hand we don't cash in, then we have potentially reduced chance of promotion and not all that money to replace a player of his ability.

Stick or twist basically and I'd say stick.

Yes, fully agreed with regards the RB

Again love Femi, he has it all, but he needs consistency now. His team need him We need him and he needs a good run as our first choice RB. Deffo a Prem player in there.
