Outgoing? Anel

Well, almost certainly to encourage him/force him to try harder.
Ah that old trick of giving un-interested, lazy and petulant employees even more responsibility to make them work harder 😂. Genius thinking by Wilder 👍. What was it he always said? Effort is the bare minimum he expects. So why reward Anel with the armband for being a lazy shit that clearly didn’t want to be there?

Anel was undoubtedly a huge disappointment last season, and I hope we move him on - for a suitable bag of cash. But I suggest there is a touch of hysteria here, whether it be confirmation bias or being in an echo chamber. In a shockingly bad defence, how did he compare to the others?

If we compare Anel (the devil incarnate) with Jack Robinson (fans player of the season) then per game:

Anel had more successful tackles than Robbo,
Anel made more interceptions than Robbo,
Anel made more clearances than Robbo, and
if you ignore own goals!, Anel scored more goals than Robbo.

But stats aren’t everything…..

How he was made captain will go down as one of the greatest mysteries in modern football.

I wonder whose decision that was? Maybe the same bloke who took a striker off when we were chasing down Forest at home and replaced said striker with a defensive midfielder...

#baffling #clueless

I'm not seeing any 'hysteria' on here about Anel. Instead, I'm just seeing a large portion of members posting their view that Anel was shot for the vast majority last season and for the vast majority if it, displayed a piss poor attitude.

That's my take in it. I'm not hysterical about this subject matter (nor do i see otbers being so) as it's gone and it's not something that really bothers me too much as its a footballer playing for a football club.

Oh, imo, Robinson wasn't great either but he did a lot less sulking on tbr pitch and showed be was bothered. In a shit show of a season, that counted.

Probably depends on your definition, with "mass hysteria" being "an outbreak of unusual thoughts or feelings shared among a group of people". But I am sure those with that view wouldn't consider them "unusual" and I think we all agree Anel underperformed especially when set against expectations. Which is possibly why Robinson is viewed so positively as our expectations of him were so much lower?

Stats aren’t everything, your eyes tell you lots, especially when you’re at live games, his effort and commitment have been shite most of the season. He’s slightly improved towards the end. Probably down to his agent or dad telling him other clubs may be watching.

I don't rate Robinson at all and to hear the Manager come out with "need 11 Robinson out there" footballing ability no, effort yes. Anal wasn't that good after his illness and becoming a father. His faults this season were also evident last season- However put Robinson in a possession based team he becomes a massive massive out of his depth liability put Anal in that team and he's likely to be comfortable and be able to play to his strengths

Nice to see some sanity on here. Got nobheads on Twitter saying they shouldn’t take less than £18m.

I honestly wonder just how pissed half of our fans are when they say they’re ‘watching’ our team play.

Assume they’re the same ones who said trusty ‘did alright’ last season.

I think £12m for a quick sale isn't a bad deal. Would enable us to start the rebuild. It's at the lower end of where I'd put him though.

Would hope to retain a sell-on % and maybe have some add-ons linked to their European qualification, number of appearances etc.

He wants out. The fans have turned on him. Wilder too (judging by a few comments towards the end of the season). Good riddance.
Have despised watching him this season.

Bought him for £4mil, sell him for £12mil when we need money for the rebuild. It's a no brainer. Bye Anel.

yes no brainer 12m is a good deal for us that would get us 2 from worrall mckenna or souttar gerritdone

But if we can't buy (on/off/no takeover) then surely we can't sell. If we do sell what happens to the money?

Sure i’ve read that Malmo have a sell-on clause, so a £12m sale probably means around £6m profit

Think I remember from our first season in the Prem that we were compared with Atalanta (or they were compared with us?) who played a similar formation with overlapping centre backs so if they still play like that can actually see Anel being a good fit there if they're more interested in his attacking ability than his defensive ability
