Bosnia have announced a friendly against Russia in November (despite Russia being suspended by FIFA). One would hope Anel will have the opportunity to decline the call-up to the squad for that match.

Awkward situation.
I hope he declines to play, but imagine he will play for his country.

The butcher of Bosnia ready to unleash hell on the ruskies

Surprised Bosnia have agreed to play them, didn't think they had any Russian leniencies. Would not have been surprised to see Serbia, Belarus, Lithuania, the Central Asian 'Stans etc...

Dzeko refusing to play, standing in solidarity with Ukraine. Fair play to him.

Men of honour. Good lads.

Can't see Anel wanting to participate.

He doesn't. Looks like the players will refuse. Anel is a big admirer of Dzeko's. If he's saying no, along with Pjanic, I'd say they'll all stay united on it.

As above, it amazes me the Bosnian FA would agree to it. They've suffered from a fairly recent genocide themselves.

Dzeko is the captain too, isn't he?

Lithuania? Really? Why would any of the Baltic States want to play Russia? They're all NATO States on the front line against Russian expansion and view Rusdia as their greatest threat.

Not the best term to use. The man called the butcher of Bosnia is currently imprisoned as a genocidal war criminal.
Well the "baker of Bosnia" doesn't have the same ring to it

I didn't know sides that hadn't qualified were going to play games during the world cup. Regardless of who is playing who I suspect a lot of players pull out.

Of all of them, I thought Lithuania was the most Russian leaning. With a huge proportion of the population still identifying as Russian.

It just wouldn't have surprised me if someone within the Lithuanian FA wanted to keep on good terms with Russia and agreed to a friendly, as opposed to Bosnia.

But on reflection, you might be right.
