If he's out on license surely he should be prosecuted for the new offences that are coming to light.
How can our justice system allow a convicted, serial paedophile to live under an assumed name ? No doubt it will be down to civil liberties or some other mealy mouthed excuse but what about his victims and more importantly future potential victims ?
Cannot believe how dark the world really is, ever since Jimmy Saville was exposed there has been an avalanche of abuse cases in all walks of life. What's even more shocking is I think we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg.
I absolutely applaud their bravery. They should not be the ones to feel they have something shameful to hide.
From what I was reading, Bennell did not face conviction for all the allegations... I'm assuming some of the historic stuff was difficult to prove. That shameful excuse for a man is out on licence living under a false name.
Crewe should also face sanctions for failing to safeguard the youngsters in their care. It took until yesterday for them to announce an internal investigation.
Yep heard that this morning and was thinking why has it took till now for you as a club to act. You should have been investigating the moment it came to light to protect any other potential victims first.Must admit very disappointed with John Bowlers attitude to it all, took a while to get a statement out about it. Might be just me but comes across a bit combative about it (I appreciate the interviewer may have wound him up beforehand) would've thought a bit more compassion was due, especially as it happened on his watch.

Makes you wonder how many other "Bennells" there were/are.
paedophiles can be very calculating individuals and try to place themselves in positions where they have easy access to children...look at all the stuff coming out from the children homes back in the 60s and 70s. in this case he was just as 'clever'as he had access to children who relied on his influence to try and get pro football contracts.
these kind of people are the scum of the earth and i dont think most of them can ever change their behaviour, i would lock them up for good...but then i guess thats one reason Im not part of the criminal justice system !
Fuck the victims, he has rights and has been re-habilitated.
Fucking do gooding twats that think this without a thought for the victims
Without wanting to come across as a do-gooder, what do you suggest we do with paedopiles?
Start off by letting them have one minute in a room.Without wanting to come across as a do-gooder, what do you suggest we do with paedopiles?

Keep them out of society.
I don't believe you can be "rehabilitated" for paedophilia. In my opinion it's a sexual orientation, not an addiction like drink or drugs.
I struggle to think of many crimes worse than sexual abuse of children, it's all very calculated IMO. They know what they are doing is wrong otherwise they wouldn't threaten the children into not saying anything.
It takes a really sick kind of person to get themselves into a position of trust and opportunity to do what Bennell/Saville etc have done.
I'll fire the question back at you YES Blade what do you suggest we do with them?
Another ex-Blade reveals he was abused by Barry Bennell.

Shocking as the stories are, we must applaud the players now coming forward and telling their stories.
I wonder if there's a million more stones to be unturned.
It's a horrible and emotive topic. It is fairly well established, for example, that a significant proportion of child abusers were themselves abused as children. Clearly such perpetrators must be stopped, but you can't lose sight of the fact that they too are victims and were failed as vulnerable children. It is so easy to damage, often irreparably, a child's view of the world, leaving them to stumble blinking and twisted into adulthood. How do you judge somebody who's childhood has been so blighted? Can they be rehabilitated, and if not do they deserve to be 'punished'?.
I think they need both punishing and treatment. And the most important thing is to make sure they can never be in a position to offend again. It's a horrible and emotive topic. Of course then there are the likes of Savile who, from what I have read, had a relatively normal upbringing and seemed just to be a predatory, sick and evil man. A career criminal of the most despicable and unforgiveable kind.
I don't know the background of Bennell but the point I suppose is that it's unfair to equate abusers of the type described in my 1st paragraph with the likes of Savile. Is it fair to say that 1 needs treatment, the other needs treatment and deserves punishment? No easy answers, testified by the fact that we seem no closer to eradicating this affliction on society.

I've also read that many abusers were abused as children so it's really important to break the cycle. The fewer the children abused, the fewer that grow up tone abusers themselves.
A blow torch and a box of matches come to mind.Without wanting to come across as a do-gooder, what do you suggest we do with paedopiles?
.The thing is Bush, the only way to do that is to lock them up for life.
There was a documentary series on recently about social workers, and the cases they deal with (in Brighton I think) and one child sex offender who had been through all sorts of "treatment" and was out on license and was caught on film, sitting on a park bench, opposite an infant or junior school, just staring at the kids. I think he said (when interviewed by the social worker as to what was going on) that he was trying his best but just could not control his urges.
