Tranmere fan in peace here, just wondered if Andy Taylor made the step up ok and wondered if he's doing well? I didn't think he was good enough to play at a high championship level but he seems to be starting for you???

He's not been too bad, but far from amazing too. I think the vast majority of us are looking forward to Naysmith returning from injury.

His positioning is a bit suspect and he's not the fastest. Nevertheless, he seems like able backup.

Good luck for the season.

Like what I have seen, especially at Boro when he was marking probably their best player. Think he is decent and wouldn't mind seeing him get an extended run in the side. Naysmith does add a bit more experience and a cooler head at times though.

Be nice to have 2 decent left footed left backs competing for a place.

Naysmith is a class above but he took a while to find his confidence. I think in the short time he's been playing for us Taylor has done okay and has tried going forward a bit more than Naysmith did to begin with.

I think he has made a pretty decent start, and has coped quite well at times. He has had the odd silly moment with tricks in certain areas, but he seems to be coping. I agree with bladesway we have too good left footed left backs.

I thought he was MoM at Reading. He set up 2 goals (including Hendo's at the end of a passing move of real quality). He was never troubled defensively and quite skilfully avoided an own goal. I think he's one of those stead players who will grow on us, rather like Naysmith.

Both are preferable to the vastly over-rated parochial favourite 'Stretch'.

Thanks , glad he's performing well for you, got yourself a bargain by the sounds of it!

Good luck for the season hope you go up!

Agreed, Armstrong seemed to be very well liked - due to his tenacity for recovering from career threatening injury perhaps? - but I really didn't rate him and felt we got a good deal when we got rid. Reminded me of the similarly overrated Tommy Cowan who I always thought was garbage and who did precisely nothing after he left us.

He has alot of potential in my eyes but still has alot to learn to. The ball seems to go over his head a few too many times.

He's definitely far better than I was expecting. When you hear 'one for the future' it sometimes suggests that they're going to be bobbins, but other than a couple of moments of madness - as other posters have alluded to - he's looked fairly composed. I can only see him getting better, and let's be honest - Naysmith isn't going to play forever. Very pleased so far.

Good luck to your boys too; nice to see fans being polite to each other :)

quite skilfully avoided an own goal.

Was lucky, if he had a right foot it would have been no where near. Was a terrible clearance!

Personally i dont rate him at all. He's too slow, ball goes over his head too much, gets caught out a fair few times and his positioning at times is terrible.

Can tell he cost 400k!!!

one foot?

I suspect he only has one foot for kicking. Against Leicester he got into terrible difficulties trying to turn to get onto his best foot to clear. Other sides will note this and act accordingly.
