So if it wasn’t wilders decision, who’s was it?

Doubt it was the princes. Hopefully the new owners are still involved?

Hampson can also do a job there and has impressed. It is a good move to release Dozzell otherwise he would block some of the good youths that we have coming through and whilst adequate he never stood out
Can't rely on all the 4 youth midfielders to get us promotion. Arblaster, Brooks, Peck and Hampson. As good as they are..

Well the Prince controls the purse strings. So would have been his decision. It's really quite worrying that Wilder and the coaching staff had identified what is a relatively cheap option in Dozzell and we can't find the money to do the deal.

Or, we offered what we thought dozzell was worth i.e a squad rotation/backup midfielder. He thinks he's worth more/can get a better deal elsewhere. Fair enough

He’s a cheap option because he’s crap, it’s that simple!

If we're really that broke it makes sense to spend the money on players for positions where we really need it rather than wasting limited resources on a backup midfielder where we have other options there, signing him would have been like blowing last summer's limited cash on Traore and Slimane.

Agreed.

RB and GK = Critical. Otherwise it costs us points throughout August and possibly beyond.

Any other positions, we keep our eyes open and use our inbound loans to best effect as availability improves closer to the end of August.

We are not as broke as you think. We dont think he is good enough.

Released by QPR.

He was tidy without being anything exceptional.

In fact, Peck was much more eye catching against Rotherham when he came on.

So why settle for mediocre shirt fillers?

We have 2 slots and potentially Souza, Arblaster, Hamer, Peck, Coulibaly and Davies to fill them.

Think we neee w bit more out wide for this new system to be honest.

They will be paying him a wage that is comparative with him being a first team player for them. We wouldn't agree to his wage demands (though we probably could afford it without to much of an issue) because we didn't want to pay him what he was asking, for what he would offer us I.e. a steady squad player.

Obviously we didn't think he was worth what he wanted for what he would ha e offered us. I'd also suggest that Peck would be a better bet for us this season as a 'squad' player who will only get better with experience. Good luck to the lad though. Pompey a good club.
