Id give him12 months. Souza wont be here in September and T Davies will play less than 10 games so we need cover.
No doubt he’d be decent cover but I think we should trust the youth on this one given the showing in pre-season. Especially if Dozzell is only expected to be a bit part player.

As I’ve said previously, I can’t understand the comments about this being a ‘Wilder rehabilitation project’. He played more games last season than both McCallum and Shackleton combined. What makes them any different?

We’ve signed players before who weren’t wanted by other clubs and they’ve turned out brilliantly for us. Our fans have very short memories sometimes.
He’s not really delivered on his early promise. His Ipswich career petered out and QPR were happy to loan him out for the last 6 months of his contract to a direct rival. I’m not sure he was anything more than average at Birmingham, although I’ll be happy to be told otherwise. I doubt he was expecting a move to a team with parachute resources and his recent career trajectory didn’t suggest it either. Hope to be proved wrong and maybe he is the next Del Geary. Not knocking the signing, it was more just an observation that he is unlikely to have been identified by the new owners if they’ve got a bit of wedge to spend.

Shackleton and McCullum might not have got regular start but they were both playing for better teams who made the playoffs and I’m sure both were offered new contracts, Shackleton definitely was.

We do need a 25 man squad at the end of the day, they can't all be frontline signings. I am not convinced we are covered in midfield as it might look in on paper.

can see him being offered a deal but only as a squad player think there could be another midfielder coming in probably on loan

We need a bigger squad. Hecky signed Davies on a big long contract and he cannot even be ready for a pre season.

We need another body in as unfortunately we cannot count on him.

Maybe we should offered him a squad place and reflective wages but he got an offer of first team starter football at somewhere like stoke.

You could look at it both ways, but for my money, the lad would be a squad filler only and wasn't going to uplift the quality of the first team in any way. I'd rather spend that wage putting it towards a player with more ability. It wouldn't have been thr worst decision to keep him on but I was leaning towards let him go.

Hopefully the current owner / new owners have thought they would want better I.e. Matt Grimes from Swansea rather than cluttering up the squad. Lord knows we have just dumped a load.

it tells me wilders got better loan signings lined up now it looks like osula going we can definetly do better than dozzell

Can mean one of two things:

Wilder believes Peck can make the step up this season and contribute significantly.

Takeover is imminent and funds will be made available for a better player.

I believe the former...

Hampson can also do a job there and has impressed. It is a good move to release Dozzell otherwise he would block some of the good youths that we have coming through and whilst adequate he never stood out
