Its not Wilders decision. The board / hierarchy they now call themselves make all buy & sell / financial decisions now. Apparently they decided we couldn't afford Knilly.

Of course the board will be involved in major decisions but for the sake of argument he will have been told we need to raise 20m in fees and reduce the wage bill by 10m pa. Why would Wilder know Norwich City's confidential salary details - unless they've leaked them to him?! It doesn't pass the sniff test. Brooks could've turned United's offer(s) down but that doesn't amount to knowing the precise details of Norwich's offer.
I agree: £40,000 seems incredibly unlikely. The notion that United didn't want to secure their asset on a long deal also doesn't pass the sniff test. Indeed, it has been stated. The lack of a announcement of a new deal for Brooks is revealing in and of itself regardless of the football staff's opinion of him. Asset management which is above the football staff

Why would there be any blame to ascribe anyway unless it's the "Brooks is only leaving because Wilder hates him" batshit conspiracy theory which nobody serious would consider arguing anyway. We’re at the point where wilder has returned the club to the point he found it. Fans divided, no love for the team, hate the board, players either cant be arsed or are looking for the quickest way out. Those of us that have been around a while have seen it all before.

It is probably closer than you think. If we consider:

a) Quick Google indicates that he is close to their record signing, given there's no record of them even spending eight figures on a player
b) That ought to equate to him, being said marquee signing, being in the upper end of what the club are paying in terms of wages
c) Said link here (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c23zm4kerpro) indicates the first team players plus two non-playing staff donated a day's wages to charity earlier this year, believed to be around £80k. Given their accounts for 24/25 indicated wages of just shy of £40m for the season, this does not seem like an unrealistic estimate
d) Let us assume that they mean the first team squad (i.e. the 25 man squad) as a whole there, and let us also assume that the starting eleven's wages account for half of that. That's 11 players against 14 players plus two staff, while Clement is likely on decent money the other non player in question likely isn't costing the earth, neither are your players who are on the end of the bench or not even making the bench. I'd actually guess the percentage that the first 11 amounts to is actually higher than 50% but that's irrelevant for this article
e) That would make the first eleven (who we would assume Brooks to be part of, you know given he was already a Championship starter) contributing 40k of that daily wage. Or 280k per week, i.e. over £25k per week per player
f) Forwards typically cost more per week than defenders. Players who have signed a contract more recently than others are typically earning more than those who haven't. Players who have signed for large transfer fees typically earn more than those who signed for smaller fees. Brooks checks all three of those boxes.

tl;dr - if Brooks isn't on forty grand a week, logic dictates it is not by much

Don’t blame the new owners. How gutted must they be that they thought we’d get promoted only for the king Mr Wilder to totally kill any ambition. It’s almost like he did it on purpose.

Sacking him was a definite reaction to the owners knowing they had literally lost millions.
