CONFIRMED Andre Brooks sold to Norwich

Suspect it’s a combination of

  • us needing to raise funds,
  • Brooks not engaging in contract renewal talks, maybe actively looking to leave
  • maybe not in Wilders plans (352?)
  • preferring to keep another player
In isolation a very poor decision, albeit maybe one driven by necessity.

I’m loathed to write off the summer and next season, but the replacement will speak volumes about the state of the club.

All good points.

If we needed to raise funds, Hamer should've been out the door, Brooks had two years left, Hamer has one.
352 hasn't worked for a while, it'd be peak insanity to go back to a formation that's utter tripe.

Selling to Norwich seems a bit stupid. We won’t have got much for him from them.

Just fuels the rumours of how much him and Wilder didn’t get on and we lose a flair player.

On the face of it, it stinks. But hopefully there are compelling reasons why.

I suspect we might make good on your first point as well 😂

Oh, you meant instead of? Damn.

Therein lies the problem of not having a DOF structure. The club is in a financial mess. No parachute payments and a pending court case overseas not forgetting the owners still owe a considerable amount to the Prince. So it should be no surprise assets are being sold off. The problem is when you do not have a competent off field structure that delegates recruitment and sales to experienced football men. One good championship season and Brookes will be worth double the alleged £10 million fee. Norwich are on the up. They have the off field structure and £20 million in the pocket from the sale of Sargeant. Add in Clement an experienced manager who has managed in the champions league and they are potentially one of the favourites for the title. Why wouldn't Brooks want to go to an ambitious club.

A DOF avoids contract extension delay. Effectively manages disputes between players and football managers and has the negotiating skills to get the best possible deal for SUFC. This deal isnt the best for SUFC. Its the best for Brooks. It has all the hallmarks of the Ndiaye mess we got into last time where the player delayed signing a contract extension and left on his terms.

Brooks was young, athletic, pacy and got fans off their seats. He was one of the few players worth watching last season and will be a significant loss.

This has conveniently slipped out whilst the manager is in the USA at the World Cup and golf. It suggests the Club knew there would be an adverse reaction and have gone for damage limitation. Its just another example of the current reactive management style that alienates supporters.

No money is owed to the prince.

Get JRS.

No money is owed to the prince.
In December Sky Sports said the Prince was still owed almost half the takeover price of the club so if what you say is true and the owners have paid that amount in the past 7 months, it’s no wonder we need to sell players as thats a pretty hefty bill they’ve cleared in such a short space of time.

I would like to think however that at sizeable chunk of the fee received will be reinvested back into the playing squad.

Gus will 100% be out the door. We had a brief respite where The Prince was pretty canny re sales. Now we are back to what we always have been - desperate. He’ll be gone for 3-4 million, let’s face it latest owners = fools.

Whilst we dawdle getting players in, the speed at which we offload them is impressive to say the least; 24 hours from rumour to announcement.

Bravo!
Both chong and harmer or chong and brooks or all 3 😂

I was just replying to the post about someone would rsther we keep brooks & sell hamer.

Im all for it, if it means we can bring in two wingers either side that improve us and keep hamer (moved centrally). Although in disappointed regards the rumoured fee & to a direct divisional rival.

Some of you lot on here wouldn’t recognise a good footballer if they kicked you up the arse with steel capped boots on,he was easily our best player last season. Don’t worry, some of our supporters will boo him when he comes back with a side that plays good football.
I recognise a good footballer with a lot to learn and a desire to move on. Doesn’t seem to me to be the disaster some on here are suggesting. Disappointing yes, but let’s see who arrives by September before assuming Wilder is crap and the owners are incompetent .

I think the date of the sale - June 25th is key, as it falls into the current financial year.

Hang on that doesn't really make sense, how much are we talking is still owed? Can't be much surely.

DoF would have made no difference at all in my opinion in this case.

The issue here is cash.

We won't have been willing to stump up cash earlier in his contract in order to extend it, because we don't have it or don't want to spent it.

We also have a hole of 40m in contrast to last year that the owners will want to fill before stumping up their own cash.

What we needed was owners with a pair of balls and some money and by the looks of it we have neither.

But then that comment may be proven to be unfair by the time the window ends.

Brooks didn't slip out the door when Wilder wasn't looking. He hasn't signed a deal because the club didn't want to stump up the cash and it suits us to bring in a wad of cash to replace that not coming from Sky/PL. The narrative of an underpaid player wanting to move for more money will suit the club fine. For Norwich, didn't Delia sell up to some American with cash? And didn't they sell Sargeant?

As for United, I've spent almost 50 years supporting them. This doesn't even scratch the surface. My recommendation is see where we are in September and don't let the bastards grind you down. No point getting upset. You can't change it anyway!

In all seriousness, I think it strongly impacts our chances of keeping Seriki. Which would be an even bigger departure, for me.
While for me the correct answer would be to sell neither, Seriki's position and potential is a lot easier to replace, and a lot less damaging if you do the sale too early. It's still moderately rare that you see a wing back go for more than 30-40 million unless the player is already at one top tier club going to another. That money for a forward bought you Andy Carroll 15 years ago

So pissed off with this club.

A pathetic sale.

We won’t get another winger of his quality for that price. Yes he was inconsistent but he was electric when he’s on it and still young. He’ll go for much more money after Norwich.

Wilder clearly hates him and Seriki, they show personality on the pitch. We must not have athletic players in the club - only old slow injured cart horses allowed!!!

There’s already shit loads of evidence that those running the club and transfer dealings in particular are a tad incompetent.

The money for shares doesn't come out of the club .

Only fucking club where the managers drinking buddies pipe up on social media to have a go at the club, or insinuate/spread shit Absolutely fuck all done about it as well. We’ll never progress.
Bochum WhatsApp is a fucking disgrace, ringleaders are all out giving the wilderettes their talking points.
