I realise this has probably been done a thousand times before but.

Who is your all-time blades XI?

RULE (only 1) - you must have seen them play in a blades shirt. Therefore TC can't be in mine as i'm only lickle (31)

Mine would be (hope the formatting works):

In Goal: ALAN KELLY

I like the Tommy Cooper impersonator. Tell me did he do much magic:D.

As i can't separate some players in my memories and using the excuse that the game was different 40 years ago when i started watching, I decided to conduct a genetic experiment in my laboratories here at Villa Musteloid.... here's the result:

I hope this isn't cheating... one or two out of position(s)... and if I lose the formula, there'll be a challenge to separate them... though I'm sure Silent will know the ingredients.

We'd not win much of the ball but we'd be fucking amazing once we'd got it!
just put Trevor hockey in then :D

I'm embarrassed to put mine having only seen the blades from the 90s onwards.
When people stopped putting borbokis in their team I knew I'd missed 100% of our best players playing

Kelly in goal no doubt
left wing back quinn
right wing back borbokis
centre backs jags, holdsworth, murphy
centre mid brown, mcall, Devlin
up front Deane, agana

not sure about Devlin as he was more of a winger but couldn't think of anyone else

EDIT just been reading the heroes thread, can't believe I forgot about Dane Whitehouse Devlin can fuck right off, Dane for me, also Fjortoft in for agana

My dad said he was upset we sold Jones for 100K but was pleased with the 100K we got for Birchenall

I saw them play many times together, and like many such partnerships it was a case of opposites attract. Although different, Keegan and Toshack also formed a formidable pairing. Sometimes things just work, there's no obvious explanation for it's success, but there's a chemistry between certain players that just clicks, and when that happens the benefactor is the club and it's supporters.

Grecian , good shout . Kevin Arnott - wonder what he is doing now.

Always Dave Powell , Willie Carlin and Trevor Hockey to fit in.

Jones and Birchenall were class . Two brilliant players who were sold too soon . Did we used to nickname Birchenall - Sherman

Can we have Naughton at left back? He played a fair few games there didn't he?

'93 onwards
--------------------------------Kelly
---------------Jagielka---McGrath---Holdsworth------------
Borbokis-------------------------------------------------Naughton
-------------------Brown---McCall---Whitehouse------------
---------------------------Deane---Beattie------------------------

Spine of the team is easy:
Kelly, Deane and Jags are no contest
McGrath and McCall were the best I've seen and most experienced in their positions
Beattie doesn't feel like a top 10 outfield player but no one better up front beyond Deano really
Brown seems worth the position for central midfield

But then while Whitehouse seems nailed on with his default position as wide left, it causes a problem when for me the standout right sided defender is Borbokis, himself far better as a wing back. There's no great left back anyway, so I'm sticking Naughton in there who was quite forward thinking. Tucking Whitehouse into a middle three and using wingbacks means no right winger, but the flip side is I get to throw Holdsworth, who I really liked, into central defence.

Kelly
Jagielka Morgan Holdsworth
Walker---------------------------Whitehouse
Brown Speed Hodges
Ndlovu
Deane
