Where does he play?

Are we going to be waiting for Souza to be bid for and he will step in?

He’s far too high profile to be a squad rotator.

We have Gus, O’Hare, Arblaster, Souza and bending over backwards to get the Palace lad. Brooks was also very good the other day.

Just could be one to upset the harmony perhaps, though difficult to turn down good players IF fit.

His injury record would make him a squad rotation player. I’d like to think he’s got enough self awareness to understand that his body wouldn’t stand up to playing regular Saturday/Tuesday football in the championship.

Would be either wing or be competition in CAM for Ohare (like he was at arsenal) in our system. He is a good CM but not as defensively inclined as our DM options.

Noticed on Friday night how many tackles and blocks Souza got back for. Can’t see OC doing that

There are often pros and cons with any potential new signing but fir me the pros outweigh the cons, it's funny but without giving it any real thought yesterday when I heard about it i was really excited, was saying imagine on Monday we hear about the Ox, Raki and Cooper being signed!
I'm sure Captain Morgan would soon pour cold water on the enthusiasm.

I don’t think this is a genuine goer, but he covers all the 5 midfield roles. The Palace lad will mean Brooks will be largely squad player, but that’s good for him not to have the pressure this season. He’ll be able to come and make an impact, play 20-30 games and be ready to really push for a starting role next season. If he can push the Palace lad out, then what a talent we’ve got. Great development for a kid either way.
Souza leaves, Arblaster drops deeper and AOC goes next to him as the box to box, or Hamer drops back and AOC replaces him there. Souza stays and AOC allows Arblaster to be brought in and out when he needs it, and he will need a rest.
He can also cover O’Hare and Hamer too.
It would give us some serious options from 60 minutes and a lot of players would get plenty of minutes.
It almost feels excessive but so long as it isn’t instead of a winger, CF or GK then great if we can do it.

He plays in central or attacking midfield and can play out wide as well.

He would not be a replacement for Souza though as they are totally different types of midfielder
That’s my concern.

Are we really going to commit serious money to an O’Hare replacement/rival or for Hamer? Just feels unlikely.

Had we had a Billy type finisher against PNE, it would have been a cricket score. That's where our priority is, someone to convert the chances.

things will get very interesting at bramall lane soon if this comes off

Yes from me, remember the 2 free players Luton had last year and a large majority bellyached that we didn't get them

Another way of looking at it is if we were reading about him being linked to another club like Leeds and not us what would the reaction be?
Typical United, no ambition, and, seeing as he is being linked with us what do the other clubs fans think when reading about it?
Jealousy and envy I reckon, just imagine the meltdown on pigsville.

If it's was a permanent on a one year with an option for extension, it would make more sense. But, not as a loan, for a player with his injury record.

Weird to single me out. I've been really positive on our business to date and also about our next targets (Cooper, JRS, Cannon).

I don't think Ox would be a good signing for several reasons.
But the largest one is the injury issues which have dogged him all his career and the massive expense. I don't think that's unreasonable logic given what's happened with Tom Davies...

On top of this, I think we need some permanent signings to properly rebuild. I don't want to see us betting the house on promotion in Y1 and getting into financial difficulties if it doesn't materialise (something we've also seen once before).

Not sure I follow your logic Bonono. Without knowing details of any potential agreement, signing a player on a one year (permanent) contract would involve a signing-on fee and likely a fee for his representative (would you be willing to pay them?). The issue of his current contract, which he's apparently in dispute with his club over, would need to be addressed (would you be willing to pay that up (~£2m) to free him?). If not and as he's currently contracted, agreement would be required over his transfer (would you be willing to pay a fee). There would also be no way of curtailing the agreement, other than a compromise agreement, as there would be with a loan, should Utd wish to.

Permanent agreement do work better than loans in some instances and the club is obviously limited on the number of loans, but I suspect in this case, a loan would be a better and easier to land option.
