If he played for a more " fashionable" club, not only would he have played for England, he would have been worth as much as any of the so called star wide men of today. Terrible news. I am so so sorry to hear this. Nothing lasts forever but you just wish it could. In my mind's eye Woody will forever be latching on to a through ball from TC and routinely hammering it past Banks/Shilton/Clemence in front of an adoring Kop.

Absolutely gutted. A true legend. A privilege to have witnessed such a talent, can't say that about many who have pulled on the red and white stripes in my lifetime.

Gutted to heat the news of the brilliant Woody passing.
In a world where superlatives are chucked around lightly, he really was a fantastic player.
So privileged to have seen him so many times, chanted his name, wrote it on my school satchel.
Always remember the corner routine Woody onto Currie boot lurking at the edge of the box to volley.
He could cross onto a sixpence, he was that good.
He had the one hardest shots in the game

Desperately sad news, one of my greatest regrets is that I am about a decade too young to have seen Woodward and Currie for United.
