Loving the positivity on here...I'll have a reassessment after the Bolton game !

Looking good on paper but will we on grass ? I finally think we're getting it right but am concerned about where Adams will be playing in a months time

Always thought he looked and sounded like a boring librarian type of manager when I heard him interviewed in his previous positions , but from what I have heard him say about us re last seasons debacle and what the management do want for us this season has really got me excited for the start of the new season . I expected CW to know the score as he's a blade but to have his assistant hit the nail on the head and say the right things time and again already has filled me with great optimism . They seem to work together very well and the lady couple of reprobates that seemed to have this type of connection Imo were Messrs Warnock and Blackwell and look where that got us !! We know we will do our bit and turn up in numbers again , but this could be the start of a great season or so , and if the players and management get their bit right , there will be no better place to be than BDTBL especially now we have the stripes back ! Come on you red and white wizaaaaaaards !
As ever UTB !

good post, and I'm right with you. I do hope everyone also remembers though that Mester Warnock needed a bit of time, so if we're not top two by November it might not mean all is lost.

I remember the Radio Sheffield interviews for AK when he was Rotherham manager.

He must have one of the most boring voices I've ever heard, totally monotone and lacking any expression.
Always used to make me chuckle and I thought his voice alone means it's impossible to motivate anyone.

However I do realise that some people are expert football tacticians but are better suited to coaching then managing. Also you can never underestimate the role of an assistant manager.

Although Brian Clough got all the plaudits many say it was Peter Taylor that did all the tactics.
Clough was just the front man and motivator whereas Taylor was the brains.

Let's hope Wilder-Knill have found a partnership made in heaven.
I'm really looking forward to the new season already, but I say that most seasons ha ha.

His wife and step son are big porkers. But hey he's not
His step son is don't think his missis has been to the sty in the lady 20 yearsthe
Knill also said on the biggs show that him and wilder weren't mates outside work, don't go to each other's house ,or go out socially etc,
Seeing as they've known each other since Southampton days in the mid 80s and always kept in touch, I find that strange. .,or is it just me ?
The best working partnerships are like that .you can't live in each others pockets .

I think this was when they met again in 2008. Interesting how they swapped places when Knill joined Northampton in 2014. They both seem happy with the current arrangement
I once went back to a place I'd worked before, towards the end of my working life, and worked for a lad who had once worked for me - wasn't a problem for either of us.

Most of Wilders success has been with AK at his side and i felt a lot better at Wilders appointment , when i knew AK was coming too , over the years AK could be seen at most Blades reserve Matches , when it was practical for him .

Seems like we have been more optimistic every season for the past three seasons. And each season has proved crapper than the one before it.

Glad you mentioned that because all this (about Alan Knill) "he sounds great.....says the right things" etc reminds me of that Scottish wanker we got from Everton ( can't remember name) people said the same about him. Hope we've struck gold ( blush) with these two

They all sound great. Difference between Knill and Weir is that;

Knill isn't the manager.
Knill has been a manager.
Knill, as assistant manager to Wilder has just been involved in a successful promotion campaign.

Apart from that, I can see the comparison.

How do he and Wilder know each other has Chris played for him does anyone know ?

I think that CW played for Rotherham when Knill was assistant and then manager after Robbins left. Many locals think that it was Alan's good work as assistant and coach there but Robbins gained the glory and the better jobs on the strength of it

Just heard Knills interview after the game.

Seems he and Chris Wilder were shocked that we took 1800 + to an away pre season friendly at Grimsby. Was nice to see Wilder instructing the players to come over and aplaud us.

A Sharra-Bang trip to the seaside in July is always a great pull with a sing-song fish and chips and the odd Beer . Had it been say Blackburn a similar distance i doubt 600 would have gone .

The fuckers should not need instructing to come over and applaud.

Perhaps still not in sync with the fans .

Im hoping CW and Knill do a good a job as Warnock and Blackwell did in 2002 03 ,probably one of our best seasons , but going 1 place maybe 2 higher this time
