Always thought he looked and sounded like a boring librarian type of manager when I heard him interviewed in his previous positions , but from what I have heard him say about us re last seasons debacle and what the management do want for us this season has really got me excited for the start of the new season . I expected CW to know the score as he's a blade but to have his assistant hit the nail on the head and say the right things time and again already has filled me with great optimism . They seem to work together very well and the lady couple of reprobates that seemed to have this type of connection Imo were Messrs Warnock and Blackwell and look where that got us !! We know we will do our bit and turn up in numbers again , but this could be the start of a great season or so , and if the players and management get their bit right , there will be no better place to be than BDTBL especially now we have the stripes back ! Come on you red and white wizaaaaaaards !
As ever UTB !

Should know the ins and outs as he has lived in Sheffield for a number of years. Always seemed to lack confidence with himself when been a previous manager , but seems to excel with Wilder . A good compliment of each other .

Two good honest football blokes who have worked for a living and not lived just off there name as some previous managers at the lane .

No cliches , just straightforward talk both fans and players will appreciate . We will have some dips next season , but at least we seem to be building a squad which has some backbone to pull out of any downers .

Even new shirt helps IMO. Happy management , happy players = happy fans.

Just a little touch of Clough and Taylor.

His wife and step son are big porkers. But hey he's not

Yes but his wifes a pig :)
How do he and Wilder know each other has Chris played for him does anyone know ?

I made a similar assessment about Wilder and the current signings in the thread "IM WILDER WE TRUST", I'm sure you said I was talking shit though!??????
Wind changed or summat??

Knill was at Southampton when Wilder was there as a youngster.

At the Handsworth forum. Knill said they had both seen the Blades a few times last season & were just bored. Also from Wilder's early interviews, he spoke as though he had been sat next to me all last season. He must have had one eye on the job, should it become available

D'you know what, I don't give a feck about the past, it's here and now that bothers me and right now, I feel good! Ask me at Christmas if my feelings have changed.

If that's aimed at me I haven't seen or read your post and feel free to check your own post and I will await an update !

He spoke very well last week at the Meet The Manager thing. He 'gets' what we're about. There's no reason why he can't fulfill his role as well as Kevin Blackwell did.

Couldn't be more impressed with Knill so far.
I would say that already in 6 weeks he's endeared himself to and related with the fans more than any other assistant manager we have had since McCall. He's a very knowledgeable and passionate football bloke and you can tell he desperately wants to do well for this club rather than just being here to pick up a wage like the rest of the buffoons we've had in this role for the last decade

I like his style and the way he talks.
He's a character and clearly knows what he's on about.
In that latest Alan Biggs TV show he says he knows he's best as a coach and not a manager. Says he's comfortable as an assistant to CW and as they are both straight talkers and not bullshitters (paraphrasing here) they complement each other perfectly.

All augers well for a shed load of long term success to me. I feel as we are now on the start of a journey that will take us places. Not felt that since Bassett started to turn the ship.

Plenty of pretenders along the way since - the Warnock years from 2003 were good - so it's great to finally see a management team that just "get it"

I think on the Sheffield Live he said lived in the area for 15 years so he obviously knows all about what's needed, and went onto say abit his step son and wife being pigs.

He seems to be very knowledgable and I know some people who know him say he's a good guy.

Seemed a very switched on and suprisingky funny bloke at the meet the manager last week. I echo what other have said about them seeming like a good partnership and both bring something different to the table.

I was extremely positive under Clough, but after a few poor signings and some extremely dull home performances in his first full season my optimism waned.

Point being, that I don't want to get carried away, but I can't help but feel really positive about everything so far. Hope I don't jinx it.

Lady couple?
Wonder if that's why Neils had the Botox and face tuck. Kev is a bit younger than him.

Seems like we have been more optimistic every season for the past three seasons. And each season has proved crapper than the one before it.

Wilder was Knill's assistant at Bury if that helps -went there from Halifax who Knill previously played for.
I think this was when they met again in 2008. Interesting how they swapped places when Knill joined Northampton in 2014. They both seem happy with the current arrangement

I must apologise wholeheartedly, it twas Brayfordsbushybeard that made said remarks. I'm sure you can see how my mistake came about!
COYRAWW.

No wonder he hasn't said owt to McNulty.

Knill also said on the biggs show that him and wilder weren't mates outside work, don't go to each other's house ,or go out socially etc,
Seeing as they've known each other since Southampton days in the mid 80s and always kept in touch, I find that strange. .,or is it just me ?

If we have a bad start and he doesn't divorce his wife then he is getting both barrels from me

Damn predictive text it meant to say last not lady but judging by how much make up shit Neil keeps wearing on tv maybe it was a more fitting ha!
And Bigbed it was a new member called Brayfordsbeard who posted not me , so apology accepted
