Leaving aside the slanging match for a second - it became closer to "game on" when your lot got rid of the Ginger Whinger. Up to that point it was a fairly steady two horse race between us and Charlton and Megson was never going to have the calibre to create an effective challenge. If Megson had stayed in charge you'd have made the play offs - but IMO not have got through them. With Jones in charge you have a decent chance - but if we have to go through that route I'd worry (like most on here) that we'd screw up on the big day as usual. Your getting rid of Megson was a far bigger event than us getting McDonald back.

The reality is that the table says it's ours to lose - your lot can only hope we slip up.

Agreed, but on the same token Jones wouldn't have got them a win against us because he'd have tried to beat us with football. They needed a motivator and battering rams against us.

I'd accept that Megson could do for them on Derby Day what NW used to do for us - but the season only has two derbies! Likewise, I'd also argue that even that shouldn't have been enough. The loss at Swills-bog-horror was because our lack of experience (or influence from experienced players) allowed us to get sucked into their kind of game - especially in the second half. They (Megson) didn't win the derby - we lost it. If we'd have played our usual style (for this season!) I still say we'd have at least come away with a point.

Absolutely on the nail. His behaviour over the Battle of Bramall Lane was disgusting. I was working in Worcestershire at the time and his comments on BBC West Mids were outrageous! Awful man indeed.
