So now season over time for adkins to go when barnsley were bottom of the league we was 18 points clear of them now we are going to finish behind them and he kept playing his poxy boyfriend sammon game after game and hammond his lover boy when clearly we as fans could see neither are good enough sammon and hammond should be made to pay for the renew of any season tickets for there garbage and utter pathetic performances

Adkins out and the board out to

I totally agree adkins didnt have a clue at the start of the season didnt recognise how poor the team was and hence took no action when it was needed. We now need wholesale changes to the defence and midfield and to be honest I dont think there will be I think the usual suspects will still be at the club next year so another painfull soul destroying season

As a debut post I've got to say that I hope you can do better

No spelling or punctuation to be seen. Perhaps they're waiting with this year's play off schedule.

Adkins never inherited a wholesale changes job, it's the same problem as last season - lack of leadership down the spine, dominant centre half, midfield player with a bit of bite and an effective target man - put them three in and the team would look much better. A defence of Brayford-(Morgan type)-Edgar-McEveley, would be fine, a midfield of Flynn-(Booker type)-Reed-Adams would be fine (Shipperley type)-Sharp would be fine. I'd just point out Morgan, Booker and Shipperley were all frees, so with the correct signings made it wouldn't have cost Adkins much to get out of this division. He's a tosser, get shut.

Did they all play for free? Given that the club had 40 odd players under contract ( and there was no one daft enough to take them off our hands) I suspect there wasn't any money to pay the signing on fees or wages for any more free transfers.

Adkins has been appallingly bad, given his reputation & expectations.

No point sacking him as "punishment" though, cutting the nose off to spite the face and all that.

But what worries me though is the seeming lack of heart. The "system" has brought improvements recently (at long, long last). But is there a "willing to die for the cause" mentality? Can Adkins instill one?

And is he just bullshitting about all the behind-the-scenes improvements he's wrought?

There seems to be a bit of a disconnect between what he's saying ("I'm creating a pathway for youth" ... but the youth aren't good enough to be playing) & what McCabe's saying (next season will be founded on a core of academy players; the academy players haven't been playing just because of the pressure to succeed).

God knows what to expect.

Morgan, Booker and Shipperley would have all been on considerably less than Hammond and Sammon and I dare say he could have got two more effective and cheaper centre halves than Edgar. Except Adkins doesn't look at tier 3 or 4 he only shops in Championship or Prem with wages to match. Adkins has been an awful match for our club, cut our losses now and get shut. Get Wilder or Warnock in asap before they go somewhere else.

Yes, let's sack the manager. The model of sacking managers every year that we currently use is clearly working perfectly and surely there would be no reason to change this.

Wilson and Clough should not have been sacked, however just because we have sacked others, is no reason to keep such an totally hopeless manager. We cant allow Adkins to continue to take us backwards, just because we have sacked others in the past . I dont care about who we have sacked in the past, I care about the present and how the current manager is performing is just nowhere near good enough. Walsall have changed there manager several times this season, but have easily made it into the play offs. Sacking Clough was big a mistake, however keeping Adkins would be an ever worse decision. We must get rid now.

He's had almost a year to trim the squad but continues to play his favourites or kids who will never make it. THEY aren't playing for free, but using wages that would be better spent on the likes of Bradley Dack or George Moncur. Sharp's efforts this season have been wasted - apart from saving us from relegation. Imagine what we could have achieved with a proper midfield and strike partner for Billy?

Adkins will give us 'more of the same' if he's here next season. Flores, anyone?

We lose a game and he goes from being the man to turn it around to needing the sack. Ridiculous.
Correct
How the fuck did we think he was the man to turn it around?
45 league games and I can count the good performances on barely more than one hand.

He was left a mess by his predecessor. He's not a miracle worker, he can't turn around a sinking ship with no money in less than a year.

Agreed. However he's shown very little in almost 12 months, tactically or motivationally. I'm not defending Clough but even he managed to pull a bag of shit together in his first season. The jury is well and truly out for me.

How can turn it around when he thinks mceverley is fit to be captain, full back, or even center half. salmon is a player worthy of a year on loan, Woodford is good enough for any team let alone united and that the youngsters can see us out of this decision next year. He hasn't got a clue how to build united into a top team. Just full of the same speeches every time united lose.

We sell players and don't replace them adequately. That has never and will never be the managers fault. The fault for our terrible position for the past several years now, lies squarely at the feet of the board. They are the ones that have allowed crap players be signed on overpriced wages, by each manager, none the less. They are also the ones that sell Maguire with no replacement, Murphy with no replacement. And that's just this year. Then there was selling Blackman, our top goalscorer when we were looking very strong towards promotion. McCabe and the lot either haven't got the foggiest, or just really don't give a shit about the club. Yes we spent lots on Brayford, but that was some sort of weird obsession from board/Clough - It wasn't money spent on what was needed, yet again.

We are garbage. Not because of Adkins, Clough, Weir, or Wilson - But because of chronic under funding and poor negotiating from people above management. We have been completely and utterly mismanaged since the day we were relegated from the Premier League.

I don't dispute that the board have made some horrendous decisions which have hindered us big time. However how can you say it's the boards fault for allowing crap players to be signed?? Who do you think picks those players? Would the board take the credit if the signings had been good? Of course not.
This board and in particular McCabe are the biggest culprits but let's not kid ourselves that the managers were blameless. Adkins like his predecessors has had a piss poor season and has shown us precious little with regards to tactics, motivation. That's his job, not the boards

We've not gotten any worse with Adkins. At least there are signs of improvement. Something achieved whilst cutting the squad and budget down massively (along with other problems within the club). He wasn't lying when he said we had 6th or 7th biggest budget in the league.

he was left a playoff .. semi final team?
That's misleading. That play off semi final team limped there and then we sold our best player. On top of that, he had to fill numerous gaps in the squad with little money as well cutting the playing squad too. It was an impossible task to take us up and as a result we've stayed more or less the same.
I don't remember the team last year being particularly popular. We were dreadful last season and there have been more positive performances this year than last (including the league cup). The points they achieved last season would most likely not have been enough for the play offs this year because the division was easier. We've not gotten worse, we've stayed the same but with more signs of progress.
