For all the moaning I myself and others make about the board the fact we have so many players desperately needs addressing before we can think of bringing in the number of players we need. I laughed today as I was listening to a Burton fan on 606 and heard the presenter say Clough is shrewed at recruitment.

I have about 15 players he can come back for. If he was shrewd he wouldn't bother!

And then we can use the excuse "the new squad needs time to gel" when we don't go up

Well hopefully with 20 or so fewer players acting as a distraction, the new squad wouldn't need too much time.
Adkins will have a squad of his own choosing by August, the next season has to be the clincher.

I'm happy for it to happen that way. Personally I've accepted this season being a write-off. Provided that the necessary moves are made to properly equip the squad for August.

If this means shedding the vast amount of dead wood before the right additions can be brought in then so be it.

Let's not forget in all this Saturday night gloom (after today's result) , we can still make the play offs and win them . Not all is lost this season , and I ain't a happy clapper .

I have to admit, I dont' know what to make of today. Very sloppy but I enjoyed the first half. We need a better striker than Sammon and today's game is out of site by half time

Believe me, I would love it if you turn out to be right.
I know what you mean though, a win or a defeat ends up changing the whole complexion of things.

so this really means the following.

Thought we played great football in the first half = shit in 2nd half
Poor goals to concede = defence is shit
The players will be mortified when they look back at the defending = and laughing a joking as they don't give a shit
Third goal should never have happened. Should have stopped him way before = defended like a Sunday team
With the experience we have the third goal should have been snuffed out = as above
Thanks the support for sticking with players = arse licking fans
Togetherness demonstrated again today = :tumbleweed:
Spirit amongst the players, a desire to do well = as above
Took McEverley off because he had been booked and Maddison was a lively character = McEv is shit
Done injury not as bad as first feared = prob out for season
Size of the budget and squad needs to be addressed but important to improve too = no budget, big shit squad
Might be at the end of January before we make a move in the market, working hard behind the scenes = skint
Hopes to bring a couple in but can't guarantee it = no movement in Jan other than out
Some players may be out of contract at the end of the season but they are still having a go = shit players trying hard
Going to be an interesting month = expect some defeats
Keep it out at one end, stick it in on the other =
Trying to work out a style of football that is entertaining = with this load of shite

Well that's the positive way of looking at it ;)

It's when you look at the back of the programme and say to yourself...bloody hell I completely forgot we had Reed / Harris / Flynn / Higdon / Scougall etc.

There it is again.....

Boring. Same year in year out. They can do one as far as I'm concerned. It's like watching the same anti climactic movie over and over.

Glad I live too far away to go anymore. Supporters being mugged off.

I've no idea why this comes as s surprise. This has been said all along.

I'm happy for it to happen that way. Personally I've accepted this season being a write-off. Provided that the necessary moves are made to properly equip the squad for August.

If this means shedding the vast amount of dead wood before the right additions can be brought in then so be it.

Me too, I find it helps me get less angry at poor results.

And up front! A lot of people have been saying that we've got enough up front. No way. Once that useless lump Sammon had been pulled off it was Sharp and, er, Sharp. Briefly it seemed that NA thought that Baxter could do a 'like-for-like' i.e. suddenly become a domineering target man. Well, that was never going to work was it?

There's just been a good call on FH that said 'As soon as it was obvious that Done was injured, why wasn't McNulty recalled?' Why indeed.

agree. Sammon was poor there was really only Sharp up front. Edit - also agree about McNulty - who scored again yesterday

His hands are tied. We have 42 professional players in league 3. He has got to ship out best part of 20 players before he can realisticly alter very much.
Who would want them? Most of that 20 are poor players on, probably, very high wages. They aren't going to leave for less money, who would, so we are stuck until their contracts are up.

Sad, but reality I think.

Why oh why do we keep making the same mistakes?

Poor players on high wages and long contracts, we never seem to learn and have the same problem season after season.

Dont want to steal William Henry Foulkes thunder but just heard his interview. Key points that stood out to me

Thought we played great football in the first half
Poor goals to concede
The players will be mortified when they look back at the defending
Third goal should never have happened. Should have stopped him way before

Keep it out at one end, stick it in on the other
Trying to work out a style of football that is entertaining
Is there a ink to the interview Roy please?

It didn't come across nearly as negative to me. Very honest that we had to ship a load out first - no shit Sherlock.

I'd prefer that we make a couple of signings and take our time. We don't need any more stocking fillers. But then again, I'm resigned to not being promoted this season.

Or next

He gives good interview does Adkins...'keep it out of my end, stick it in another's..., keep it private...'

Nice.

FFS - get Mcnulty back.

He deserves a chance with what is happening with our present "alternative" forwards.

Is Baxter on his doggies, doggy chance ? - seems like it - waste of time again.

UTB

Have we all wrote this season off?
Winning them is a different question, but making the playoffs is a huge possibility.

Well, I for one am getting fed up to the back teeth of Mr Adkins after match interviews ! I don't want to know about the atmosphere in BDTBL I was there I want to know why we have again shipped three goals at home and lost yet again after dominating the first half, I want to know what Sammon brings to the team, I want to know why experienced professionals like Brayford and Hammond let a player waltz through to score the winning goal just seconds after we have grabbied a fortuitous equaliser, I want to know why we are still without a competent centre back, and I want to know why our bench yesterday probably earns more per week than the entire Peterborough side !
As a final point I also want to know how other sides in this division loan exciting young premier league players ( eg Samuelson yesterday, Delle Alle @ MK Dons last year) whilst we loan journeyman like Hammond, Sammon who have little or no future in professional football !

To be reyt, I reckon Adkins might be asking exactly the same... :o
