Not David Cotterill, the greatest player ever to have worn a United shirt? Or David Cotterill, flattered to deceive and wasn't quite good enough?

More bothered misen about Mark Yeates not being up to the job .....

A departed legend just gets better and better SV.

Stead, Kozluk and Armstrong are making late pushes for the World Cup squad.

Saw a bit of Steadinho on Sunday. Still looks around £3m better than Ched Evans.

And just look how they turned it round second half.

a player like cotterill is like that.. sometimes they make stuff happen and sometimes they don't.. that is the nature of the player
yeah and that brian howard is doin' nowt at reading.. umm .. hold on a minute

Nothing wrong with Mark Yeates. Once he settles into a settled side he will be ok for us. Anyone would find it difficult coming into this. He already has a goal and has set two up so he aint doing that bad.

I agree that Yeates is a good player (barring the donny game!). However if KB sticks around I see Yeates going the exact same way as Cotts. He doesn't put enough tackles in or tracks back enough for KB's system. His creativity will eventually be shackled and he'll either warming the bench getting a cameo here and there or will be the one taking the flack for costing us the game. ;)

That could be a possibility but I think he gets a bit more involved defensively than Cotterill does if I'm honest. He could probably track back into our half a bit more but I find he tries to get in amongst it.

The reason ive noticed it is because a few times ive seen him win the ball and then play a really bad pass. The latter being my only criticism of him. He needs to be a bit more consistent with that. His crossing looks decent and he carries the ball well so I'm satisfied with his performances at this stage.

Can someone give me a link to broomhill's other Cotterill updates? I want to read the ones about the goals that Cotts has scored.

Thanks in advance

You'll be lucky - I can't remember mentioning him more than once. The following summary is from the Swanses City site. I think most of his goals for the Blades were penalites, but my memory never was that good:

"Made the loan switch to the Liberty Stadium in November 2009 after watching the Swans' 1-0 home success against Derby County, before making his switch permanent in the New Year as a club record signing.

His debut came as a substiute at Newcastle United before starting his first game against Plymouth Argyle on December 8.

Cotterill signed for Sheffield United in the summer of 2008 for an undisclosed fee from Wigan Athletic.

The signing was a popular one after he had made an earlier impression on Blades fans during a loan spell.

He made a telling contribution to the Blades' path to the play-offs in the last campaign, taking on penalty duties after the sale of James Beattie.

Cardiff-born, he made his full international debut for Wales in October 2005, aged 17, having also represented his country at U19s and U21s level.

He shot to prominence at his first club, Bristol City, making over 50 appearances in his teenage years before completing a £2m to Wigan.

But lack of first team games at Sheffield prompted the flyer to return home to Wales, and in early January, 2010, he signed a three-and-a-half-year deal for a club record sum of £600,000 to keep him at the Liberty Stadium."

Let's be honest, the spotty youth selling shit pies on the Kop did more defensively than Cotterill. He did look good on occasions going forward, but never seemed to bother with defence.
