Aaron Ramsdale interview

I think it's very silly for players to be as open and honest during their careers tbh.

I don't particularly care how he felt about it all. Tbh We owed him nothing. His poor form did us in first half of the season so we had no chance.

Pretty much this. Write an autobiography when you retire or whatever.

But to do an interview on inner workings and issues at a previous club whilst still playing is doing nothing to enhance his valuation whatsoever.

So basically Ramsdale got mugged off by Bettis and started crying and refusing to play.

Not had a chance to watch the video above, but I have watched this one in which he does mention coming through with the Blades: . There isn’t always chance to say everything you want to in an interview, or it might get cut, or it might not feel appropriate at a particular stage

All I gathered from the interview is that the club broke another promise to an employee……sounds familiar that.

Think he’s right to take umbridge if the club have said they will accept offers of a set amount and continue to reject them when they come in.

He played a significant part in our relegation last season, the guy was a total liability for the first half of the season, then played alright when we were virtually down and the pressure was off.

I don’t buy that he’s that good and had absolutely no problem with us selling him. He’s having a Lundstrum purple patch at the moment, he might as well enjoy the moment, I don’t expect it to last very long.

P.s - for anyone who isn't familiar with Ben Foster's podcast the full podcast with Ramsdale (normally just over an hour) will be released at a later time, so worth keeping an eye out for if you're interested in hearing the full conversation...

It's all part of the negotiation process, he wanted more money for his 'loyalty', we said no because we still paid him full whack when he was shit. Nice to hear that the club made a stance against this bullshit because he made it pretty obvious he'd be off as soon as he was offered more money. We need players who'll graft for the club, not pricks like this.

I dont think he comes across very well in it. He thinks it’s fine for him to expect more wages when he’s playing well but doesn’t see the irony of getting paid less when he was crap for ages. To be honest it’s the sort of comment that I’m sure a few of us would have said, tongue in cheek, maybe actually of meant it, so I’m not sure if it’s an unprofessional comment (well in today’s world it probably is) but I could see it being taken out of context too, depending on who said it. He was only 2 years into a contract, so to throw his toys out of the pram, say he’s not playing and blaming United for wanting the best for the club, is a very one sided opinion, when he’s under a contract he agreed to, with a wage he was happy with, until the Arsenal interest. I get he wants the best for himself, but it’s not like us moving jobs, where we leave and start somewhere else, there’s millions of pounds at stake, so it needs to be right for the club as well, especially as like he said, keepers are usually at clubs about 7 years, so not something that is straight forward. He is to be fair doing great at Arsenal, but he scared me to death at the Lane, even when he played well, I always thought he’d got a mistake in him. Like others have said, not a patch on Tracey or Kelly or Deano, for us at least. Good luck to the lad, but maybe he’d be better being less honest in his interviews or more professional as he doesn’t come across in the best light, to me as a supporter.

Personally, I think the club should be taking money off players when they're shite.

I agree he was terrible when he first re-joined us but he looks a different player at Arsenal. So far.

May as well stick him in your squad to molest Middlesbrough.

He'd probably refuse to play anyway.

I’d refuse to play if I was moving to one of the biggest teams in the world and a chance to have a career at the very top

Anyone who begrudges him that is butter and is deluded to think anyone else wouldn’t do that

As for my team v Middlesbrough I’m gonna go with Robin Olsen on in goal

I don't begrudge him the move, quite the opposite, but, the club were doing what was in the club's best interest, not Aaron Ramsdales best interest, and for that, I can't really fault them.

To think I defended this self centred cunt on here when he was costing us goals and points game after game and he openly says he went on strike to force a move to Arsenal:mad:
He was happy enough to return to us when his club Bournemouth got relegated, happy enough to sign a long contract to stay in the Premier league so I think we had every right to play hard ball with Arsenal over the fee they would have to pay. I wonder if he will once again go on strike if Real Madrid show an interest. Says it all to me about the type of person he is. Good luck to the twat he could fall from grace just as quick as things have gone for him.
Dean Henderson twice the keeper twice the person.

I don’t wish him any ill will, but refusing to play is immature and egotistical to say the least. And I was under the impression that a club had to have permission to even speak to a player so does the telephone conversations with Arteta mean he has been tapped up and that is what led to the refusal to play ? Glad he’s gone, I have lost all respect for him.

Ramsdale is so overhyped and will be found out in my opinion he's not a patch on the likes of Alan Kelly and Simon Tracey, he was a massive part of why we were all but relegated by Xmas last season, our very own league 1 wes is a far better keeper

I don't have any affinity at all with him. Maybe would be different if we were in ground, the few games I tried watching at the start of last season he was shit.

Bit of a dickbead revealing transfer secrets but with United it doesn't surprise me.

Much preferred Hendo’s time when he was between the sticks.

Supported Ramsdale when he was a nervous little kid for us, he looked a liability and lost. Came good, don’t begrudge him his move and don’t care how his career goes from here. I view Hendo as much more of a Blade and with far more fondness than this boy.

Seems well suited to the Prem and Arsenal but I feel he may be in a rich vain of form right now.

Same here, defended him and wished him good luck on the Arsenal move. Just don't forget where you came from and the people who stuck by you. The mask has well and truly slipped.

Fuck him, he was mainly shit but we got our money back plus a bit of a bonus. He is still not that good but going through a decent patch, he still cant dive properly. Can say what he wants, hes still mediocre at best.

If you're ok with someone refusing to play for the team you support and the best football club in the world you're not a real fan are you, ask 'barn door Billy' what he thinks, fuck ramsdale he will get found out

Had a listen & I don't think he said anything contentious.

Agree, although airing dirty laundry in public never a good look.

Not sure what people expect. Played for us for 1 season, sold for a profit. Owes us fuck all - loyalty doesn't exist in football. He's moved into bigger and better things.

Funny how this interview seems to have changed a lot of people's opinions on his ability...
