3 points tonight would see us move up 4 places in the table to 18th and on the same points (32) as Bristol City who we play at home on saturday.
If we can win these 2 games we would roughly be around mid table.
Gillingham are not playing too badly, they have won 2 out of the last 3,but i think this game is winnable tonight.

That's more like it brownie4583, a sense of what can be, rather than what can't. Between now and the end of the season we have to believe we can win. Just lately I've read too may posts suggesting negative outcomes. For those who chose, yes chose, to see the game against Forest as a loss, believe. We were a well drilled unit against Forest, and the potential's there to secure three wins from at least 8 of our remaining games, maybe I'm wrong, but I think that would see us safe.

Mid table? Not quite.

Sorry mate, you don't think a minimum of 8 wins plus a few draws will see us safe? I'll be relieved if we finish 7th or 8th from bottom, anything above that and I'll be a happy Blade. We all know it's going to be tough between now and the season's end, and that predicting doesn't count for much, I just think we have it within us to pull clear of this bottom group.

Nah, brownie4583 said we'd be roughly mid table if we win the next two.

With a fair bit of optimism generated from Sunday in particular, we really need to keep it up with a win tonight. I don't think a draw would do us many favours at all, and while Gillingham have done well after an iffy start you have to think they are a team we should be looking to turn over. Obvious stuff, but the sooner we are out of the bottom four the better, it'll help everyone relax a bit.

Overall our record since mid-October hasn't been too bad, we'd actually be in 10th place if the league started then. But 5 points from your first 11 games is always going to nause up a season. The last thing we need though are "relegation six pointers" in April.

We really need the 3 points tonight. Lets continue our good recent form & get climbing the table.

We win tonight, and that's 4 wins out of 4 in all competitions. That'd be our first proper winning run of the season.

I still believe we are going to get a big score against someone. Probably more likely at home than away. How about 0-2 this evening to start a sustained run up the table.

Let's have some of that positive cup-run atmosphere from our magnificent away support tonight. I reckon Gills are in for a right ass-whoopin'.

We've won three in a row: the players should be feeling positive and wanting to fight for not only each other but also their places in the Charlton(!!!) game.

If Cloughy can get them in the right mindset, I can see tonight being our best away performance in the league so far - not that we've set the bar high, mind....

Ah, the beauty of football! All season, we've looked for any glimmer of hope but what a difference a week makes. Had a good chat with a fellow Blade this morning and he said 'If only we hadn't been stuck with Weir earlier in the season...' Actually, I'm beginning to think it was a blessing. (Stick with me :)) NC wasn't available back then and any talk of the play-offs is daft. As in recent seasons (Huddersfield at Wembley, fade-out sans Ched, Yeovil etc.) we were simply not ready for the Championship. It's a big step-change from Div. 1 to the Championship - ask Wendy. It's no good simply scraping up and hoping for the best. The foundations must be laid, and hopefully that's what we're seeing now.

Strengthen in summer and 'boss' this division next year a la Brentford. Then we'll be ready for the next phase of 'the project'.

Agree with the karma there Graffers
If Weir hadn't have happened the way it did then Clough would not be here and the future would not look so promising.

The opening months of Clough's tenure have had the same feeling to them as those when Warnock took over. I'm not comparing the two's credentials, and I'm not going into the pros and cons of each manager, but as when Warnock took over you feel Clough is a 'club-man', in for the long haul, we can be confident that he wants to build something. His whole demeanour is about solidity, wants what's best for the club he's in charge of, not a fly by night.

The thought of further managerial merry go rounds makes my stomach turn, but those feelings are not prominent knowing we have NC there.
