A Wake-Up Call

It's Derby with Nigel Pearson who will stop Wednesday getting in the top two next season, behind Newcastle. Then Norwich will be up there too. Villa could be top 6 but Di Matteo doesn't convince me.

After that, it's open, more so than last season. I'd expect Wednesday to be in the top 6 again.

We need to get ourselves promoted so any play off final for them next season doesn't have the same implications yesterday's would've had.
It wouldn't have been so bad if we were at least in the championship, but yesterday could have put a wedge between us that it would take years and years to grind down, if ever.

Newcastle will win it, Derby or Villa second. Brighton will be up there again whilever Hughton is there, Norwich will with Neil, don't rule out the likes of Wigan, Birmingham, Brentford and Forest with the right recruitment. Fulham if they can construct a defence. It'll be tough for Wednesday next year without a doubt. But I do think they'll get top 6.

Only we can control what we do and we need to go up, no questions asked.

Seen nothing to suggest the pigs will be top 6 next season. Been pleasantly surprised how shite they looked. With half decent finishing both Hull and Brighton could have been 4-0 up after an hour.

I agree we need to go for it and the Board need to back Wilder. But I am going to enjoy yesterday for a good while yet.

I agree, with Newcastle and Villa coming down i think they really needed to do it this season.

Which is HILARIOUS by the way.

Depends if RDM brings Eddie Newton as No. 2 and a decent DoF give him 1 year to rebuild and then push on. You'll probably slate me for saying this, but, Norwich aren't good Newcastle should win it. Derby are getting close to FFP sanctions. If Wednesday buy well, I can see them getting the second automatic place

Dark house perhaps worth putting a couple of bob on is Bristol City. They hammered the Pork not long back, my mate supports em and talks highly of their squad plus they've got backing and a rebuilt stadium

Cracking OP.

I was thinking this morning that even at this early stage of CWs tenure that we should finish top six next season bare minimum.

Is that wrong to say? Not really but then I suppose we don't know how much he will be backed.

But a club like ours should be finishing top 6 in L1.

They have players at end of contracts that are wanted by Premier Teams, depends what happens this window

Norwich aren't very good? True but you were shite when you went down and came back up, more than once and with lower parachute payments.
Derby are close to FFP. So what? The pigs will be if they keep spending. I don't think Derby need many new players and if they do, they have players they can easily offload.
I'd be very surprised if the pigs made top six next season.

Kind of true, but, when we were yo-yoing. We built for the championship. Meaning more often than not we'd go back up right away. Norwich have I think 5 players out of contract, plus, the likes of Mkobani are loans. A couple of Wednesday players interest Pulis. Mainly Lees. As for Derby very prone to self-destruct. I can't really see Pearson staying, always has been a mardy bastard. He only really worked when the owners were out of the country, but time will tell

I think the wake up call was when they signed Foresteri. I had watched him before and thought he looked excellent. As happy I was/am with yesterdays result, I fear that the inevitable has been delayed regarding their promotion. They have serious backing and players on lengthy contracts. If the owner doesn't get bored, I can see them up in the next three years.

I think the £30m parachute payments should help Norwich rebuild.
Derby are a funny club and seem to beings trying to emulate Forest of a few seasons ago; spending a lot, getting close but falling short. If Pearson fails or walks out I can see Powell taking over.
QPR may make a serious challenge for the playoffs. They're still getting parachute payments and seem to have stabilised.

It's not that likely. Two of the three clubs promoted came down last season and that will be the trend from now on. It's going to be difficult for any club to challenge the clubs with huge parachute payments. Unfortunately, that includes us.
