A very strange relegation

Interesting angle Lenners. I see you are having to work hard to get in negative win up posts, with the forum being very negative at the moment, but you last 2 threads (this and the SOD one) have still worked. You are clearly an intelligent guy and it is a shame you spend so much time winding up. Still, the forum would be a worse place without you! :)

He isn't alone Olly, I have believed for some time that we are doomed to relegation. As someone who has always tried to be positive on all things SUFC (always thought we would win every play off final, every must win relegation decider etc etc) I cannot think of one redeeming feature within the club right now. True, a couple of results turn everything on its head but in all honesty where do you see it coming from? We need to win at least three more games than those around us to be sure of staying up. I can't see where the next goal is coming from let alone the next three points. We may scrape a lucky 1-0 and god I hope we do, but I don't actually see it happening. This situation has Sheffield United relegated written all over it. We can't buy a win and even Donny dropping like a brick are comfortably ahead of us on points. Our confidence is shot to pieces and I honestly think that the players believe they can get out of it.

Previous relegation campaigns as painful as they usually ended were based on backs to the wall scrapping. Bugger the quality of the game just get the bloody points. Its not like that now, we play a tediously slow and obvious game which looks like something from the dark ages of football. We can't get round the back of teams and when we do our strikers look so shocked they freeze and baloon the ball anywhere but in the back of the net. Our back 4 make stupid mistakes every game. Our keeper must be fed up of being used for shooting practice and then getting pelters for dropping one bollock in the face of an onslaught.

All that said, luck may shine on us and we may scrape out. But if you looked at any other club in this situation you would say they were buggered wouldn't you?

I have felt the same way since about late December. I kept some hope that by keeping Andy Reid and having a big overhaul in January, we might be able to turn it around. We pretty much did neither and as a result we've found ourselves left with the same problems (the biggest being a lack of ability to score goals) which I always felt would send us down if we didnt address them.

I know a relegation bound team when I see one, I've seen it more times than I can remember. But once again we didnt sort the issues out when we had the chance in January. We now find ourselves trying to sort them out too late without much room to manouvre. We've plodded along expecting our luck to change when what we need to do was force the change ourselves. Now the shit is hitting the fan so to speak.

As for most fans, you'd be about the first I've seen on here, the other forum or any fans I know that don't think we're going down.
I feel that there is a strong possibility that we will go down. However, I will not be resigned to until it happens. Hope springs eternal!

Likewise, I'm strangely confident about our chances tonight. One win and I think it could wake te whole club up.

Tha never knows!

ITs probably due to the fact we cnt keep a clean sheet or score A SINGLE GOAL IN OPEN PLAY

It gets stranger and stranger.
I thought we'd win the odd match here and there to keep us within touch without really threatening survival but I wonder if we're seriously going to set some unwanted records in the next 13 games.

A rot has definitely set in. The team is infested with a losing mentality, and seems to lack any sort of leadership on the pitch. More to the point, the team is also shit.

I think its time to be brave and throw a few kids in and let them play with a bit of freedom regardless of results, in preparation for next season. But they won't do it, because they won't accept the glaring inevitability of our relegation.

Its taken me a long time to reach this position, but I really want to see McCabe go. Its time for a fresh start.

13 games left and 9 wins, could be a good end to the season?

Where are you Duncs?
