A strange February...

[Canterbury Blade]

I took this view of the English Channel yesterday and is the view from the top of the white cliffs as you walk from Dover to Deal. I used no filters or enhancements it is purely the beautiful view of the English February.

There were only two sounds disturbing the view. One, the Border Force cutter going back and forth looking for Iranians in dinghies Two, some middle aged bald bloke singing songs he couldn’t get out of his head from Saturday. “ he’s one of our own, he’s one of our own” “ I just don’t think you understand”. And most often and loudest “ The Blades are going up, The Blades are going up”.

An unusual February but a beautiful one.

2 points of note here for the quiz fans, now that we have our own celebrity quiz hero fan. 1. This is the closest point to France. 2. Ian Fleming and Noel Coward lived here ( though not in that sense). Oh and my phone picked up the French mast and said Welcone to France, hows about you Tynemourh? Get any Bonjours??

As the thread is wandering around off topic (not a problem, by the way), I thought I would advertise my '60 years ago this month' thread, which is currently dealing with another strange (and wonderful) February. Do you have any memories of the matches from February 1959? I think I am right in believing that you are of the right generation.

Do you have any memories of the matches from February 1959? I think I am right in believing that you are of the right generation.

Not quite eligible me old China.. I arrived in 68 and first match I recall was Charlton at home in 78. I remember the snows in the late 70s and early 80s and the requests for snow clearing. Only other February memories are getting that years shorts for my birthday. Shirt for Xmas, shorts for birthday was the rule.

My 8 year old nephew has got every single full kit they have. I think it’s 5?

How times change even over 20 years!!!

I've never been to the seaside that far North East. The sea from Bridlington down to North Norfolk has a browny grey colour to it but in your photo the sea looks proper blue, is that normal up there?

I've never been to the seaside that far North East. The sea from Bridlington down to North Norfolk has a browny grey colour to it but in your photo the sea looks proper blue, is that normal up there?

It's a beautiful part of the country, Northumberland is lovely and has some of the best beaches in the UK.

I read it's the same type of weather over the sea as the beast from the east, but it's pulling stuff from a Southerly direction instead of a North Easterly direction, hence equatorial weather.

It's still pissing freezing at night though, perhaps a period of nocturnality is in order haha

It's the walk back up I struggle with! I like it, not the cheapest and the queues can be a bit off putting though.

As I was driving down the hill into Cromer at the weekend the sea was as blue as I've ever seen it, shame I couldn't stop to catch a picture really. Must try harder!
