It appears that we have been subjected to an influx of new members, both long-term lurkers and previous members of other boards, so thought it prudent to issue a stark reminder of the guidelines we ask you to abide by when using this board... especially considering that Foxy and I will be otherwise engaged for the whole of next weekend and I don’t fancy having to log on just to issue bollockings.

* Personal abuse and infractions

We ask that members remain civil, despite disagreeing, and argue the point being made, instead of the person making it. This helps keep discussion flowing, means Foxy and I don't have any work to do and does not negatively reflect the intelligence of our fan-base to our many visitors from other clubs.

It appears that this is beyond the capabilities of some members at the moment and they should consider this prior warning that when it comes to the forum – you do it our way or you will no longer be welcome here. The allegory we use is that you wouldn’t go up to a stranger in a pub and call him a “twat”, cause an argument and expect to remain welcome in that particular establishment. This is a privately run and funded forum, not affiliated with the club or any other entity, and as such, have no obligation to allow anyone to remain on here who is causing trouble.

We use an infraction system for members who refuse to abide by our rules. 3 infractions earn you a one month ban. 1 more infraction means you are permanently banned. If you are then found out to have re-registered, we will ban any further accounts as soon as this becomes apparent.

Our word is final and we do not enter into discussions about how you should be able to call so-and-so a “prick”.

* Housekeeping

And now a few things that help keep the forum tidy:

* Please keep all discussions on the same subject in one thread. We would rather have an easy to navigate board than masses of new threads on the same subject, just to appear busy.

* To help with the above, please make thread titles as descriptive as possible.

* Please post your threads in the correct forum. General Blades Chat is for United discussion. Pig threads live in General Football (which is a generous description, I know).

* We’ve a reputation for being snobbish, but we do ask that you use correct English... not the abomination that is text speak. This is because we have a wide demographic of users; some of more advancing years and others for who English is not a first language. If you want people to be arsed to read your post, at least be arsed to type it as close to correctly as you can manage.

* And on that point, there is no swear filter on the forum. So no need for masked swearing. But with great power comes great responsibility, so keep the c-word toned down and don’t call people names.

If you notice anything you think we need to know about:

Please use the report function on the bottom of the post.

However, as far as we are able, we will not censor users. If you disagree with their opinion, it’s up to you to say so respectfully in the thread – we won’t be getting involved unless there’s need to issue a general warning to tone it down, or issue infractions where abuse has occurred.

Apologies if you’ve read this before. And apologies if my tone appears somewhat strained. But I think I’m as fed up of writing variations of this message out as some of you must be at reading them.

You know where Foxy and I are if you need us.

Many thanks.

As an addendum:

Trolls and wind-up merchants

Anyone joining the site merely to cause disruption, particularly fans of other clubs, will be monitored closely.

Please refrain from personal abuse until shenanigans/open season has been called by either Foxy or myself. There will then be a temporary abeyance of the personal abuse rules towards this particular member and once we've had our fun, they will be permanently banned.

Please flag any suspicious postings so we can be on the look-out.

' This is because we have a wide demographic of users; some of more advancing years and others for who English is not a first language.'

You mean us old buggers who only speak 'Yorkshire' .

I'm sure she also meant 'others for whom English is not a first language' ;)

Shouldn't this be in General Chat or Suggestions and Problems?

I don't know, it's one rule for one...:rolleyes:

Linz!

All this 'shit-wasp' bollocks! Am I the only one that thinks this stuff is juvenile, immature and unnecessary on a football forum? Can't you also put a stop to this crap too?

It sometimes feels like this forum has turned in to a place full of 7 year olds, and it's putting me right off this forum if I'm being honest. To quote Linz, "and does not negatively reflect the intelligence of our fan-base to our many visitors from other clubs". Got knows what they think when they constantly see 'shit-wasp' being used on here?

Yes. I know that some might not like me saying this, but I'm also sure that the silent majority on this forum, will be nodding their heads in agreement with me?

Anyhows, let the abuse begin!?

Fully agree and I couldnt understand why some of "Shitwasp" threads were kept in General Blade Chat Section for so long

Because no one reported them to us and we've only been around intermittently for the past few weeks.

To reiterate, if you want to flag anything for our attention (it doesn't have to be infraction-worthy) use the report function.
