Murphy is my hero! Murphs! The Murphster! The Murphmeister! Good job we never got rid of him when there were grumblings of discontent in some quarters. Scoooooooogs is a wee lil cracker too. The future is SPL after all...

They dont realise how big an impact they can make on the future of this club.
They could be part of something special if they put there minds to it.
Its highly unlikely we'll keep Brayford and Harry, but the rest of them should be here next season and then hopefully beyond.

After listening to Connor Coady on the radio and seeing his recent performances not only would I be delighted if we could sign him but I think he should be viewed as team captain material in the longer term. Loves the club. Loves the city. Very mature for someone so young. Again NC has made a player far more effective than he seemed to be under David Weir. Strangely enough the first positive game from Coady was at Coventry (Northampton) which was first game after Weir.

Murphy, Flynn and Brayford seem to be encouraged to get on the outside and cross from the bye-line. In Danny Wilson's first season a great deal of attention was drawn to Ched's goals. To me Lowton, particularly when linking up with Williamson driving down to that bye line was just as impressive. The following season Wilson decided to play right players on the left and left players on the right. Who knows why? Players were constantly cutting inside and lobbing bread and butter crosses for the opponents centre backs.

First goal of this season saw Westlake(?) to the bye line to cross and Mcdonld scored. I thought Weir was going to get that right. That didn't materialise but at least NC is implementing it.

While I mention Mcdonald I don't think he would've fitted in with NC team ethics.

It would appear that there is a sliver of light through the storm clouds.

I suspect losing Ched, Lowton and Williamson and not having anyone who could get to the by-line might be a reason. Lowton was key, in that we ended up with a poor and unadventurous replacement who needed Flynn to cover his arse constantly and Flynn was negated (I thought he was crap but recent evidence suggests he was just being restrained).

The storm clouds will still be here at the end of the season when we all think that the powerful end to the season will see us as firm favourites for promotion next year only for four/five of our better players being sold.

Note:

Fuck me who'd have thought we'd be worried about losing any of these lot. :)

Very odd isn't it.

I was really looking forward to the JTW because I didn't give a rats arse about anyone in the squad and I thought we were bound to end up better after it than before.
Now we've suddenly got players I'd like us to keep and the STW could be a let down again. However, our increased revenue and profile from the FA Cup may allow Nigel to sell us to prospective signings and help him keep our better players. Just need to stay up now.

Scougall,Brayford,Baxter,Murphy,Flynn andBig Harry.
Youve shown us how brilliant you are.
You `DO` have the ability, stake your names in our greatest players list and put the pedal to the metal and consitency will prevail to blades greatness.
Agree with all the players you mentioned apart from Flynn but I hope he continues to prove me wrong as he has done in recent months. A statement next season would be signing Brayford again for a season on loan with no re-call clause or on a permanent.

Wheres lyle taylor in all this!

I noticed he hasn't scored in his last five games, not sure how many chances he's had mind.

I've been really impressed by Murphy and Flynn recently. You can tell Murphy relies on his confidence, he seems to be getting quicker week by week as that self-belief grows. It's amazing to see what it can do for a player.

People will know I've always defended Flynn and I hope he carries on with his good form. He's another one that's shown pace we didn't think he had in him lately.

I apologise in advance if they both have stinkers tomorrow now I've said that!

Dont wish to be respectful to the late, great Tom Finney but those pieces of left wing play by Murphy in the last couple of minutes would have made the Preston Plumber proud. We can all talk about the modern game with tactics and formations but it's still quite a simple game and getting out wide and down to the by-line is as bigger nightmare for defenders in 2014 as it was in the 1950's.

Interesting that Murph/Flynn seem the first names on the team sheet whereas it wasn't long since that we were lining up with Coady on the right to shore us up a bit. I suspect NC has realised we're much better at forcing the issue rather than relying on our defensive qualities (although Brayford/Harris have made us stronger).

It wasn't really a change in style as such. Neither Williamson or Quinn were the type to run their opponent on the outside. What they did do was look to play in the fullbacks who overlapped (Lowton and LJF).

As Grecian2000 says, the full backs we had to make do with in the second season were either poor (Williams), a centre half out of position (Hill), or an arse-biscuit who should have done so much better (McMahon).

I actually credit Wilson for showing the sort of pragmatism that David Weir has yet to learn.

All this shows how good Nigel Clough has been for our club in a short time, for the first time in a long time we've got hope, passion, sprit, confidence which is enhancing ability and belief.

I hope a rich championship club don't come in for him in the summer
