Dear Mr McCabe

The time is now and the opportunity is here. You have spent your time, effort and money in developing this club as well as you can and everything you have done is appreciated by the majority of the fans. The decision to release Kevin Blackwell from his duties is one that was inevitable - it was just a matter of when rather than if.

You will know that season tickets sales have fallen and that many fans have become disillusioned with the style of football that was being played at home and away. The vocal minority have had their way, but the most important decision is now up to you and your advisers.

We are all aware of the financial restrictions to this, and many other, clubs, yet the next manager cannot be seen to be another 'cheap option'. The right man will galvanise this club; the right man will attract players and fans to this club; the right man will get this club promoted. It may take two years it may take three, but the right man will do it. The potential for crowds averaging above 25000 is still there and the right man could add 5000 to the next home gate.

The fans are demanding and have many ideas of who the right man is, but if the choice is seen to be for footballing reasons rather than financial ones then you have chosen the right man. He needs to be someone who has proven himself in football and done well in the transfer market - he also needs to be supported with a reasonable transfer kitty.

I cannot and will not try to guess who the right man is but this is the toughest decision you will have to make at this club. It is a crossroads for this club and many fans will make decisions on attending matches and renewing season tickets. Please, for the sake of the club, make your decision for the right reasons and we will back you.

He'll read it, say , hey, no-one is more disappointed than me, guff on about being lifted over the turnstiles and how they know they need to work even harder - then let the club continue it's slow, agonising drift into .......

The man has clearly had enough but needs to be more realistic about what he wants for the club imho. Only when we have someone 101% full time working on it will we regain the drive and vigour KM showed five or more years ago.
